Please help! Cannot deal with kicking DS (6 months).

I'm just out of ideas.

We cosleep most of the night (baby start in hammock, but comes to bed with us at around 11pm to 8 am. )

When DS starts fussing for food at night, he uses his whole body to wake me up. He's not totally awake-- so I don't think I can teach him to stop. But he flails his arms and legs and it really hurts! When we are positioned correctly, his legs line up with my c-section incision, and it hurts, hurts, hurts, if he kicks me there.

Any ideas... I"ve tried putting blankets or pillows between us, but he seems to kick them aside by the second feeding. (And I'm constantly switching sides.)

I've even tried shoving a crib pillow down my pants, but it shifts and is not that comfortable.

Sorry, I have no advice, but my daughter is doing this too. Only she's 17 months and getting quite strong. I have no idea how to stop her - if I hold/cuddle her she cries, if I put her back in her crib she cries, I'm out of ideas and totally frustrated!

Can you sleep on your side with your back to him?

Can he sleep on his tummy and stay sleeping?

Can he be in his own bed? Like for instance in a crib/cosleeper beside you, or on a separate mattress so that his little legs can't reach you?

Can you put him in a sleep sack? Easier to contain if he starts kicking - just pull the material tight around him.
