Do You Keep Your DC's Baby Teeth?

...or is that creepy? I cannot imagine getting rid of them, but a jar full of teeth on the bookshelf is kind of strange LOL. I want to keep them more than I care if other people thinks it's gross, but I just wanted to know what others do!

hahaha!

Yes, actually!! I thought we were the only ones!! Instead of a tooth box we put each tooth in a baggie (zipper) for the "tooth fairy" and then they go in a larger gallon bag after the "tooth fairy" collects them.

We couldn't decide what to do with them but decided we'd wait and let him decide if they were trash or not. When dh was younger he always wanted to keep them, but his mother made him throw them out. I had no attachment, once they were 'collected' they were gone, I'm sure they were thrown out, which is fine with me.

If don't want to throw them out, don't!! Ziploc baggies are my friends for things like that. I even have ds's first hair clippings!

I do. I have no idea why or what I'll do with them but yeah, so far I do keep them in a box.

I started to. My grandmother and mom always kept mine. Then I thought about it, and really wondered why exactly I was interested in keeping discarded pieces of bone from my child? We no longer keep them.

Jar on the bookshelf, here.

ETA: It's ds who wanted to save them.

My DD keeps her OWN teeth. From tooth 1 on, she has left a note to the tooth fairy every time she lost a tooth, asking to keep her tooth. The tooth fairy has obliged, so she now has a little collection. She loves to look at them and count them.

I have kept DD's teeth. I even go so far as to put each one in its own ziplock bag with a little slip of paper that says what the date is and which tooth it was. In case she ever wants to recreate her baby jaw for some reason.

I keep them the same way my mother did. In a film case. So old fashioned b/c film is so outdated but I still had the plastic containers.
I remember finding mine and made a little fun of my mom for saving them. I have no idea is she still has them.

It is so funny to read this because my DH was just giving me a hard time for all of the baby teeth envelopes I have. They are all dated although I didn't think to write which tooth each one was. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

I have three full sets

Yes, I have all the children's baby teeth in a little box for each of them.

Yep! My collection is up to 4

Actually, I hadnt given it much thought yet, but i do know that my mom kept my first two (They got knocked out when I was four) She taped them inside my baby book. They are still there!

I prolly will keep them all. Its only 20 little chicklets. I bet a plastic baggy taped inside their baby book would work perfectly.

ETA forgot to mention I also already have ALL the hair from their first haircuts. They have since had two more, and I thought about it. But then thought no, that IS a little creepy to keep ALL their hair. Anyone see Fever Pitch?

Yep! I have all of ds1's teeth in an old pill bottle in the cabinet. I also have the hair from his first hair cut. I'll probably do the same for ds2 when he starts to lose teeth and we finally cut his hair.

My dad kept mine in an envelope in his desk. Last year he mailed them to me. Unfortunately most of them got crushed on the way, but not too bad.

Then my mom found this cute little ceramic tooth-shaped container for keeping teeth. So my teeth are in that, on my desk. My DD is 4 and not losing her teeth yet, but I'll keep hers. What for, I don't know, but it just doesn't seem like trash!

I'll bet a lot of cultures keep teeth - you know, the whole necklace of teeth thing, or in a headdress or sewed like beads to a ceremonial outfit. It seems to be a human thing, to want to keep them in some form.

I'm big on giving back to the earth, so I wonder if they would compost well. If so, I guess I'll compost my teeth and make room in the little container for DD's.

Just the first one. In DS's baby book there's a tiny cellophane pouch with his first lock of hair in it, and next to it is another pouch with his first tooth in it.

DD doesn't have either in her baby book yet because she hasn't had a haircut or lost a tooth, but I'll do the same for her.

Subsequent teeth get tossed.

Wow! I never even imagined throwing them away! My mom still has hers! I always wrote the tooth fair a letter and asked if I could keep mine. I have a little box I keep them in. My family keeps MUCH stranger things as well, but I'm afraid to disclose them if some of you think it's strange to keep teeth!

Yes, I keep my kids' teeth. A cute, mini Altoids box for dd (she 15 y.o. and I think she's all done now) and the little velvet box that my engagement ring came in for ds.

My mom did that for us, too. When I was a teen she handed me a box with a couple of my teeth in them. I don't know what I did with them!
