We have a huge weeping willow in our front yard. In the past, my parents have planted nice little flowering plants in the area around the roots and filled in with mulch. They really let it get overgrown, though, and after a failed attempt at growing various herbs, lettuces, etc last summer, it's basically bare.
So, what's a good thing to plant there? It gets a little sun, but not much, as there are trees across the street and on the other side of our yard that keep it pretty shaded. I've given up on it being a productive area, so pretty much anything inexpensive and pretty will work for us.
