post O symptoms?

Do you get any sort of side effects after O and if so, when?

I've been experiencing a few symptoms which DBF thinks are pg symptoms (he's so hopeful), but someone had told me that most women have similar things happen when you are coming down from O, and I'm curious about that. I've never really noticed anything out of the ordinary happen after O, and I tend to not even get many PMS symptoms (just retain a little water and get cramps). My breasts are actually sensitive for the first time *ever* ... never had that happen before, so thats a bit odd.

i usually get EWCM near O, and then am dry for the rest of the month. this month i've got creamy CM though. generally my breasts get really sore for a couple days around O and again around the time i get AF. i'm also very crabby and weepy a few days before AF arrives, but i generally have a full week in between the O symptoms and the PMS where i don't feel a thing.

After you ovulate your progesterone rises. Pregnant or not, this happens. So pregnant or not, you will get symptoms of this, not ALL the symptoms, mind you, just the ones your body gets in particular.

Symptoms of a progesterone rise include but are not limited to:
tender breasts
dizziness
headaches
fatigue
nausea
bloody nose/gums
metallic taste in mouth from bleeding gums
increased body temperature
loss of appetite
cramping
irritability
creamy cm

yeah... sounds like pregnancy huh?

many women who take extra progesterone during their luteal phase (to combat luteal phase defects or assist in fertility treatments) could SWEAR by their symptoms alone that they are pregnant even when they are not.

I took it one month hoping to hold off AF to push back O so we would have a chance at getting PG while he was home on leave from deployment... We hadn't DTD since November 2008 and I did this in April 2009... I would have been 100% convinced I was pregnant had I had any chance whatsoever of it by that point.

So while they are fun to get excited over... they are not reliable solely as an indicator of pregnancy and you can have every symptom under the sun and not be pregnant.... or no symptoms at all and be pregnant!

For what its worth... my pre-BFP symptoms were:
bloody nose (which I blamed on the dry winter air...)
nausea/bloating (which I blamed on Christmas food)
and my breasts did not hurt by 7dpo like they had for the full year and half before then.

tender breasts are a symptom of AF, or leading up to AF I should say. I read your post about sense of smell enhanced. That was how my job found out I was pregnant with DD. I was at work along side a male collegue who smelled strongly of womens parfume. I asked him if he was wearing womens parfume and his reply was, are you pregnant? Turns out he had spent that night at his girlfriends house and used her caress bar soap in her shower. None of my other co workers could smell it. I never used to get sore breasts before AF until just recently. Not sure what changed. Waiting to find out if you're pregnant can be torture! You'll know really soon though. I think I saw that you are CD13 or there abouts. I'm CD14 and I don't chart so not sure of my O date. maybe we will get our BFP's together, LOL!

Oh wow yeah ... those all sound like pregnancy symptoms. I suppose it's possible that I just pay more attention to my body now, but it's hard to tell. I'm 5dpo, and the symptoms I'm experiencing are:
sore nipples
extreme fatigue (as in sleeping 14 hours, taking an afternoon nap and still being tired)
smell sensitivity/nausea
vivid dreams (after not remembering them for years)
pressure in lower abdomen

All of which could be normal post-O symptoms.... or pregnancy.

Only time (and a BFP or visit from AF) will tell.

Yeah, the person I was talking to mentioned you can get that leading up to AF, but I get my PMS symptoms like 2-3 days beforehand and its not due til the 22nd.

I'm CD19.

If I didn't normally get those symptoms at this point in my cycle and was getting them this time around I'd be anxious to pee on a stick! The extreme fatigue and smell sensitivity is what had me convinced I was pg before I was able to confirm it with a test. That and having a dream that I was pregnant (which may have just been wishful thinking as we were really hoping to get pregnant that month). Normally, my luteal phase starts with a headache around day 18 and ends with being cranky and moody a couple days before my period. For me, that is pretty different from the pregnancy symptoms I had.

the smell sensitivity and dreams is what concerns me mostly. i haven't really heard of any other cause for smell sensitivity, and dreams ... I only remember my dreams maybe once or twice a year (if that) and I'm having some very bizaree, frighteningly vivid dreams several times a night now. The fatigue really isn't that out there. I'm anemic, though it's never gotten this bad before. Normally, if my energy is low, I'll just rest for a couple hours and I'm good to go.

smell sensitivity = increased blood flow to the nose, also causes bloody noses. still progesterone.

dreams = melatonin production... this happens sometimes just because you are keeping your bedroom darker than usual, not being in bright light within an hour before bedtime, and other things. I actually have problems with insomnia and had to take melatonin, despite having vivid dreams in the first place. It made them crazy vivid. I was riding a rainbow over china and could taste it (and it didn't taste like skittles)

I'm not sure if melatonin production is related to progesterone at all, but I wouldn't be surprised since they are both hormonal and melatonin can effect your cycle if you take too high of a dose.
