Rewards Cards

Do you bother with 'Rewards Cards'?

I hate having them in my wallet. I resent that stores make you have one to get sale prices.

I was going to ask "should I throw away my Babies R Us Rewards Card?" But just writing this has made me realize that I hardly ever shop there, there is no reason for me to have it. It is getting tossed!

I hate rewards cards and generally keep them in the glove compartment of my car, where I sometimes remember to bring them into the store with me and sometimes not.

Often when I go into a store and they ask if I have a rewards card (Shaw's and Borders are the ones that come to mine) and I say I left it in the car, they'll swipe a card they have behind the register for me. Or they'll look up my account in their computer.

Most places you can just give them your phone number or email address and it works just as well.

i have a separate wallet for membership cards etc and keep it in the car so i have it when i need it. i try not to shop at places that need them, but it happens. sometimes they can just enter your phone number for you and access your account that way.

I haven't tried this, but someone's come up with a way you can consolidate all of your loyalty cards into one card : www.justoneclubcard.com/. Might be worth it if you do actually use them but just don't like carrying them around.

The only one I use regularly is Gymboree's reward card - but even that, if I shop in-store instead of online, I can just give the associate my phone number.

I am very glad my albertson's doesn't require a members card to get the sale prices - Smiths (Kroger) does, and it's one of the reasons I don't shop there. Just annoying, to me.

I had one for Borders on my keychain, but took it off as I don't go there often b/c I can find the books cheaper online or on Kindle.

I keep punch cards and rewards cards for most stores in an old wallet in the glove box. I don't have to carry them everywhere but I can still get the perks of participation. The few shops I can walk to regularly that have reward or membership cards just live in my wallet.

Oh, My Dh was just telling me about an app for iPhone/android/etc., where you can take pics of your rewards cards and it keeps the barcodes in your phone. Not sure if all business will scan them for you that way, but it might come in handy for someone who uses them a lot.

I do.

I only regularly use 3. One is for our local grocery chain, where we get specials and earn points for every dollar we spend, which I cash in on restaurant gift cards. I use our Fred Meyer one as well get points for cheaper gas. And I have an American Eagle one, because they send me coupons and I love shopping there.

You can use your phone number/name for all of the ones I use.

I punched holes in the upper left hand corner of all of my cards and put them on a binder ring- I have a specific pocket in my purse for this bundle o' cards. It works pretty well, and doesn't clutter up my wallet.

I put the App on my iPod. You have to plug in all the numbers which is time consuming but now they are all in one place.
