Stop Pumping?

14 month old DS is nursing 4-5 times a day. I work only one day a week and am down to pumping only one time during that 10-hour day. Problem is, when I pump, I get only drops! Have switched pumps with no success. Am certain DS is getting plenty of milk as I can still express milk after he nurses but the pump just doesn't seem to be effective anymore. As the mom to two preemies and a pumping fanatic, I'm wondering if it's ok to stop pumping during this one work day--don't want to lose supply even with a 14 month old. Thanks for any suggestions!

At 14mo you should be ok to stop pumping as far as your milk supply. You might get uncomfortable, or then again, maybe not. I stopped at 15mo with my DD and was fine. I worked FT/5 9-10 hour days and still nursed during work hours on the weekends with no problem, and nursed her until 29 months.

From everything I've read, your supply should be fine if you drop pumping all together--especially if you're only pumping 1 day a week. I've been pumping at work (4 days a week) for 8 months (DD is 11 months now) and I've also noticed I'm responding less and less to the pump. I've already weaned down to 2 instead of 3 sessions a day, and from here will go down to one and stop once engorgement isn't an issue. I can't wait to ditch the pump!!!!!!!!

Thanks, y'all! I know it's time to stop but just can't imagine not pumping! Kind of sad to stop, too--DS getting big too fast! Thanks for encouragement.
