Orgasm Question

I've read the RRL tea thread from start to finish and it's mentioned about a billion times that RRL tea is a uterine tonic and thus helpful in labor. What about orgasms??? The few times we've actually managed to have sex and I orgasm, I can feel my uterus tightening up nicely. Wouldn't regular sex (or rather orgasms) be just as beneficial in preparing the uterus for labor? Has anyone read anything (articles/studies) like this anywhere???

I don't know any specific studies but I would think that it could help. I think the problem lies in the fact that for some women orgasm at 36-40 weeks pregnancy is sometimes hard to come by, or at least harder to come by then drinking some tea! Also, as you drink the tea it works for a longer time then one orgasm would. I could be wrong but the RRL worked for me! I had a 5 hour labor!

I drank RRL tea faithfully AND had orgasms during the last month with my son, and still had a 20+ hr labor. He was posterior, so we're hoping that accounted for the extended time. Luckily, I like both tea and orgasms, so we'll try again with this one!

"In a random double blind study, 1,632 women underwent daily orgasm treatments to study the effectiveness of orgasm to increase uterine tone in preparation for labor and delivery. Half of the participants then had a tall RRL iced tea chaser. In the women with both orgasm and RRL intake, their labors were reduced in length and pain by 48% over the orgasm only. However, both groups reported being in better moods during the last trimester."

(just kidding...a study I want to be a part of)

Yeah, same with my last pregnancy. I drank RRL tea all the time and had orgasms regularly throughout (even the day before ds was born, I think), and my labor was 21 hours, he was not posterior though. So I don't know what the deal was . I also had regular visits to the chiropractor which they say can make labor quicker. Maybe if I had not done these things though, my labor would have been 40+ hours! But I have to say, I was never very uncomfortable when I was pregnant, even in the last month I felt great.

My last pregnancy went so well, (which is different for me) that it's hard to say which of the changes I had made impacted it. Here are the things that I was positively doing which resulted in a virtually pain/discomfort free blissful pregnancy and quick labor. I was a VBA2C hospital birth after 2 vag hospital births, a c-section for transverse, and then a VBAC ban forced repeat. I had battled hypertension and full blown toxemia with my first, and all the interventions for induction, etc., in the past. This was my most laid back and hands-off pregnancy.

-RRL tea through whole pregnancy, drinking 3 cups in last trimester.
-Nettle tea 1 cup per day last trimester
-Optimal health and nutrition and supplements
-Focusing on positivity surrounding the birth
-lots of protein and a gallon of water a day
-Lots of walking and exercise
-Lots of sex and orgasm...up until the evening before labor

So, it's hard to say what was different for me to make the pregnancy such a breeze, and the labor delivery good. I'm doing a homebirth this time, and other than adding in some alfalfa and chlorophyll at the end, there isn't much else I'll be doing!

I'd still like to be part of that orgasm/tea study, though.
