The Official Treasure Map of 2010 - Page 8

Hi, all! So excited to be in the midst of the TM madness! I've been gathering my images for the past 2 days, have my backgrounds done, and hope to starting assembling tomorrow! I still have a few mags to go through and don't feel close to being done yet, but I'm loving what I've got so far

I am still in the cutting out phase! I have no kids but I swear it takes me from the 14th to the 18th to get it done! I cut out a lot! I never use new magazines (except last year) because I can't afford them. What I did was help my mom declutter her house by getting about 20 magazines from the 90's out of her house and I am having a blast!!

I am here! I did alot of cutting out tonight (or is that last night now?) and will put it all together tomorrow. Life has been so, so busy lately. It seems everyone is saying that. Must be the energy right now that is making us all fly around non-stop. I was feeling lost on Monday, but by Tuesday night was starting to come out of the fog. Wednesday afternoon, life started feeling a bit more directed again. I did get time to look through magazines and note what needed cut out. But didn't actually cut until Thursday. It should be done Friday or Saturday.

I've gotten off to a slow start this year due to work busyness, but I've been making lists of things that I want, sort of free-association writing, not trying too hard and just letting things come out. It's been hard for me to find magazines this year (you'd think that in a city the size of London there'd be one decent magazine shop!) so I figured I'd start from words and go hunting for images on the internet. I'll do some cutting up tonight of the magazines I have found.

I'm trying to be really careful this year to tune into what I *really* want, rather than what I *think* I want, if that makes sense.

DS, has things like, pics of food he likes, a drawing of a ferris wheel, because he wants to go to a carnival, a drawing of him buying legos with money and then a pic of a storage facility because THEN he has so many they won't fit in the apartment! A pic of a space ship...LOL..... Oh and he has a pic of a baby, because he WANTS a sibling SO SO SO badly!!!...Is it weird that my 8 yr old son is manifesting another baby for me? DOH! Maybe between the two of us we can convince DP that it REALLY is a good idea!?
You are SO welcome! Glad you are inspired. I just love this time of year. Like I said, it feels like a holiday to me! And that is so crazy we were dreaming about them...or is it? We have been talking about dreams a lot lately.

After a slow start, I am finally getting going on my Map!!!

The delayed start was purposeful. On the start date, we had yet another problem with the school district (a long list within 2 months at this point) and I was just a roller coaster of emotions and could focus on nothing else. I knew I had to wait to get grounded first.

Yesterday I was ready to lay down the foundation of my map, so I went out and purchased magazines and poster board. Part of the enjoyment for me the past few years has been applying the bagua colors to the map, so I worked on that in order to clear out the previous day's issues and concentrate on where I was in the present so I could move on to visualizing my future today.

Here's the poster board I purchased. The frame made me happy the instant I saw it, so though I went looking for plain, I picked that up instead. It actually will look really nice over my desk where I hang my maps, so BONUS! And here is the map with baguas, all ready for me today. (I'm a lapsed scrapbooker, thus the designed paper)

It worked! I feel so good about creating my map today!

I'm going slow this year. My kids are both finished, pics of ds2 map and ds1 map I'm still not sure where mine is going, I have done some painting and cutting and I am also journalling. I think I might end up with one of my paintings as the back drop for a few clippings and then a scrapbook with pictures and journal entries

I'm having a hard time this year - there just is no flow.... I'm not "drawn" to anything beyond preconceived wants: pregnancy, financial security, an abundance of $, and a fruitful garden. The other things I want are intangible: faith, trust, courage, etc. But can't find the "right" images.

Is this all mecury's fault? I'm a gemini and I usually have no trouble communicating my needs....

I also am having a slow time with my map!
I think Mercury is definitely in the mix. But I have every intention of completing my map before Mercury goes retrograde (April 18th) because if I let that happen my map will NEVER happen.

Are you a "hey - can we skip all this extraneous stuff and just get to the point please?" person?

When I look for words and images in magazines in my years of mapping, I have not searched them for matches to the specific life areas I have 'wants' in. For myself, there are too many distractions with so many pages. (the extraneous stuff)

So --- What I do is I flip through each magazine, and any word or image that speaks to me, I pull out that page immediately and set it to my side. And repeat. (For me it's part of the decluttering process Tracy talks about.) After I have all of my images out, I put the magazines away, and then I go through the pages I was drawn to, trim out the part that called me, and ask myself "What does this word/image mean to me?" Which then helps me know where I need them on my board.

Would that help you?

Tracy -- I have no orange. I don't recall having any orange in previous years, either. Is that bad? Should I add some???

Yeah, pretty much

I tried that method, but *nothing* was speaking to me. I have what I want in my mind's eye and was just looking for images that matched and it just felt wrong. Even picking out mags was hard. But I think I'm beginning to feel the juices flow I was just out of sorts yesterday - didn't feel well and was trying to clean cause my best friend is coming for a visit this weekend (yay!). Didn't have the time or energy to really get into it, but maybe tonight...

I started the layout here at work and it's really good. I think I will be all set and will *definitely* get it done before retrograde!!

Freespirit, that is just gorgeous.

Fullofgrace I love your scrapbook paper page! What beautiful papers!

Yesterday, I finished goingthrough my magazines and snipping pages and bits of pages that spoke to me. I also kept a piece of orange cardstock handy and wrote down ideas and affirmations as they occurred to me. I feel like these ideas that bubble up are really important and I don't want to lose them! So now I have a big envelope full of clippings and a page of affirmations. I have to print out a few specific images from online, photocopy a couple of photos. I also need to get my kids to draw mommy and me pictures for my map, to symbolize our relationship

I picked up a package of new markers with my Michael's coupon, and some posterboard and tissue, need to mix up a pot of glue and a paintbrush and I'm ready to go. First, I have aday of work to get through.

I think mercury retrograde has hit this computer already. So many typos, sorry!

Only if you feel it. You don't 'have' to have it.

Well, my problem is that I'm reading conflicting information as to what it stimulates. In one place it says it represents knowledge, another says activity, one says power, and yet another says health. Is it really ALL of them?

suzywan: The majority of my map is words ~ that's partly why I pretty up my board with color. Pictures just don't seem to do it for me. Like you I am a "let's just be direct, m'kay?" person. I need clearly spelled out affirmations to focus on. I'll find some of the pictures I pull out to be very pretty, but then they don't say anything specific to me. Of course, you can find me with my nose in a novel every single day, so that likely has a lot to do with that focus.

OK this is interesting ~ Do you think it means something if I've just looked out the window on this icky rainy day to find a crow puttering around and taking a little stroll in my yard? At first I thought it was one of the wild turkeys we get through here. (love my area with its trees and wildlife!) But no - it's a crow acting all casual. It is not unusual at all to have a crow in my yard - but they are usually flying overhead, or staring down from our tall trees. (we are very wooded) -- ETA: Hawks are usually my 'sign' bird. If I've decided something big and I see a hawk, I tell myself I've done the right thing. So a crow is a new one.

I keep having this urge to make my treasure map vertical. I just hope that it isn't interpreted as linear in my view because each section is flowing into the next with some overlap.

I am trying to put two sections on my map and having some challenge there. Firstly, I am a doula and would love to have some more clients this year and keep spreading the word. I also teach prenatal educationa and I am writing a new curriculum that when I finish it, will probably go international - how amazing! At the same time, we had two ectopic pregnancies last year and I have a section for a happy healthy pregnancy and baby. I guess I am just hoping that the universal energies understand that the images are different (they are in different parts of the map).

I am just missing a few things but it should be done today as long as things keep progressing. Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and progress. It is wonderful to see so many people who are inspired and empowered to make changes in their own lives.
