I have found that when choosing images that feel 'right' and I cannot find any, that my own words work even better. Of course, I'd rather a photo/image, but writing what I want is perfect for me.

FullofGrace: i have just pulled out my copy of Animal Speak to see what it has to say about crows. At the top, it says, Keynote: "the secret magic of creation is calling," and for cycle of power, it says "all day- all year."
Pretty appropriate, i'd say!
and here is the last paragraph:
"Wherever crows are, there is magic. They are symbols of creation and spiritual strength. They remind us to look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. They are messengers calling to us about the creation and magic that is alive within our world everyday and available to us."

Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to my bottom right corner bagua. I got 2 baguas done last night although I may find more to add to them yet.

Sigh. I was almost done, and then I realized I screwed up the placement of baguas 7 and 8. Bagua 7 is supposed to be rest, self knowledge and wisdom, but I have a bunch of work stuff in that square. And then in the 8th bagua I have a lot of rest and meditate and things like that. This is really bothering me, it doesn't feel right for me to have a lot of work related issue in where there should be rest. I already glued everything down, what should I do? I'm tempted to glue a new piece of paper over those 2 squares and start over. Any advice?

Of course... I was able to finish up today, because I am staying home from work due to food poisoning.

But hey, it IS done: Treasure Map 2010! It's much less organized than what I usually do. I'll see where it takes me!

well...FWIW mine *is* vertical-but I based it on the 7 chakras. I will post a pic as soon as I charge my camera's battery

Oh how very, very cool! Love the idea of it being the magic of spiritual strength and creation. This is something I really need right now - both in making my map and in dealing with school issues.

Another definition I just read said: "Badb is the Irish (Celtic) Goddess of war. Which mirrors my description of my current issue with the school district (too long to get into atm). I literally told DH that I felt like I was thrust solo onto the front line of battle facing their team of ten. (out of control essentially) I don't want to fight with the school district, but if they make me (and they've made me), I'll fight to win. So I think I'm meant to change that scenario so *I'm* the one with the advantage. Hmmmm.

I think I might need a crow on my map.

I'm really interested in the Chakras maps. I'm doing research on the chakras but haven't found anything that provides a more in-depth explanation. Can you guys share any links with me that might help me translate it into a map?

I'm familiar with the bagua and am fine with doing my map in that style but I want to learn more about the chakras as well.

just layed out my background and my images are all trimmed and ready; though i have way too many, and i think some baguas are less weighty than others...can't wait to see it all come together! but i am wondering about the extra images, kindof have in my head to save them and do new moon work in this way. BUT i came in to post this question: what do ya'll think about ME making one for my 1 yo to hang in his room? good idea or not? because i have too many things, like i said, especially in the children section, wondering if i could do them on a page for him?
8 yo ds has lost interest. He did write down about 7 or 8 things and he wrote them as "I have" and "I am" statements. Concise, clear, cool and neat things he wants for himself. i am hoping he will join me in gluing down some stuff this evening, even if it is just a few on that white paper he wrote the list on.

I think I'm done. What a great process! So much came up in my mind as I worked and guided my kids doing theirs. I'm glad I tried this. Mine is also mostly words but I painted some pictures too and painted the background in a spiral Chakra.

I found an image of chakra mapping here. And I was inspired for placement by this. But I did the spiral the other way around...hmmm.

Can't find my camera! Grr. I will post when DH gets home with his camera phone (or finds the camera in some obvious place).

Should I have not done mine vertically?!. It seemed natural for a Chakra map to me. I'm still wondering if I missed out on something by not using magazines and doing the pictures myself...like maybe I missed an opportunity for something outside myself to speak to me? It just didn't feel right at the time.

The delayed start was purposeful. On the start date, we had yet another problem with the school district (a long list within 2 months at this point) and I was just a roller coaster of emotions and could focus on nothing else. I knew I had to wait to get grounded first.

Yesterday I was ready to lay down the foundation of my map, so I went out and purchased magazines and poster board. Part of the enjoyment for me the past few years has been applying the bagua colors to the map, so I worked on that in order to clear out the previous day's issues and concentrate on where I was in the present so I could move on to visualizing my future today.

Here's the poster board I purchased. The frame made me happy the instant I saw it, so though I went looking for plain, I picked that up instead. It actually will look really nice over my desk where I hang my maps, so BONUS! And here is the map with baguas, all ready for me today. (I'm a lapsed scrapbooker, thus the designed paper)

It worked! I feel so good about creating my map today!

This is lovely! I am using fabric for my back ground on poster board. What did you stick yours with? I'm worried that things wont stick right

your desk is so clean and that room looks amazing!

I guided dd on her map, which freed the space on mine where I usually go into detail about her.... It just felt right, she is a big girl... I only added a few sayings on motherhood since last year my entire focus was in her,my map was literally all about toddlerhood (phew!!!) im also doing a birth art project during this time to influence my doula business.... Ive expanded this year from one map to 3 different maps... is that ok, Tracy? My original is orange and focuses on a fresh start, moving, abundance, education, etc...dd's is all about her and her wellbeing... i didnt cover anything on love or romance or my relationship.The original is simple, very cut and dry desires, while theh project is more of a positive explosion from the birth junkie me, this year will be free flowing.....................

last year i used hemp to devide the different colored sections, but this year i dont feel the need to seperate them. that way maybe things from one section can cross over to the other?

I've been laughing at myself, at how organized and distinct the areas are going to be. I don't think it needs to be like this, but I think it's funny that I'm going to end up with 9 sectioned areas--think: orange posterboard, then 9 construction paper "frames" for the 9 areas.

The folks I met with Wednesday night are, so far, going with much less structure and they look just lovely.

Seems like the most important thing is, does it seem right to you? For who you are, and how you are viewing things, this year?

well i know that i do want the backgrounds colored but i had bought something to put down the middle for each section....now im thinking about it and i dont know that i want to.

oh well i know that its up to me just still cant decice.

im about to start putting the fabrics down and we will see how it comes out.

I did the same exact layout b/c it worked for me. I'm sure one year I'll change it up. But this layout feels good to me for now.
