Hula Hooping

Was wondering how safe it was to hula hoop during pregnancy. I know a strange question!!!

I would assume its perfectly safe for baby but I myself would avoid it for the fact that moving like that would kill my back/round ligaments. However if I were only first trimester or used to doing it on a regular basis that would be a whole different story!

I do it a lot on my Wii, as long as you feel ok doing it I don't see a problem.

If you are doing it with a real hula hoop it might be hard to keep on your belly once your bigger.

it's totally safe and fun! Plus it's good for the belly muscles! enjoy!

A good friend of mine still does it 6 months preggie.

If I was at all good at it, I would do it pregnant.. just don't let the hoop fall and then trip on it.

I used a big ole adult sized hoop for all 9 months! My midwives encouraged me to stay active and hooping is a great way! Enjoy!

oh, and take pictures! I only regret that I don't have any pictures of myself hula hooping with a big-9-month belly!

Its not for me, was inqiring for a friend who loves to hoop and was thinking of taking a class starting in her 2nd trimester! For some reason I was nervous about helping the baby flip around in wrong positions!

There was an article about a hula hooper in Homer that was hooping while in labor outside the birth center..

hmm... I found this, but she doesn't talk about the labor ... maybe I confused it, but I will keep looking..

Hooping was a daily practice when she got pregnant with her daughter a couple of years later. She hooped all through that pregnancy. She hooped while she was in labor. She hooped outside the birthing center just before heading inside to bring her daughter into the world.

With her son, she was in labor for 24 hours. With her daughter, more like two.

So you have to wonder, could hooper birthing centers be the next hoop venture?
