PIS question

Thread Starter
Anyone know why every once in a while, milk is sucked into the tube of my Medela PIS, rather than going into the bottle? I can do everything as normal and suddenly there will be slurping sounds with a lot of milk moving through the tube. I've caught it before going into the motor so far, but it certainly disrupts the pumping session.

happens pretty freqently to me, with any of the medela pumps that use tubing (swing, pis, lactina) it can be from a real fast letdown combined with cycling not letting the milk drain [roperly or it could be a problem with the white membrane sticking somehow. i've had both happen, though the membrane onl once.

I had this happen a couple of times when the membraes were not properly seated, needed replacement, or when the bottle was too full. I replaced the membranes about every 3-4 months. (I ran them through the dishwasher almost daily.) They are really cheep and you can get them at Target or BRU. Might be worth a try since cleaning and steam sterelizing the tubing is a PITA!
