baby hair color question

curious.. did your baby's hair change color from birth?
did your baby's eyebrows change color first?
how soon did the new color come in?

(reason i'm asking: dh and i both have black hair.. my mum has auburn hair. dd was born with black hair and eyebrows but now her eyebrows are very much a red color. her head hair is still black, but scant. i didn't grow real hair until i was 2, so i'm thinking she may be a slow head-hair-grower, too. i'm just wondering if she's going to end up with reddish hair and think it's strange that her eyebrows are a different color!!!)

My DD had light blondish peach fuzz, that didn't grow much until she was 1. She has dark brownish-black brows and BLACK eyelashes(she looks like she has mascara on), her hair is golden blonde. She also picked up a recessive blue gene, so she's got bright blue/green/grey eyes.

DS had dark brown hair at birth. He had brownish/red brows, and no lashes until he was 2 months old. Now he has strawberry blonde hair and the same brownish/red brows and lashes. He's 6 months, his hair is as long as DDs was at a year. His eyes are dark brown, almost black.

I have been thinking of asking this exact question!! I would really love to hear what happened with other LO's hair!

DS was born with a thick head of dark brown hair, slightly wavy, almost no eyebrows.

It immediately started changing to an auburn color, and curling. When his eyebrows started to show up, they are definately auburn. His eyelashes too are a dark auburn color.

Now at 4 mo, his long (about 2-3 inches) silky, curly auburn hair is falling out in PATCHES, and is being replaced by a new crop of almost white/blonde hair!?! I cant tell if the new hair is curly or not, its still too short.

So now DS has a very patchy head... some auburn, some blonde.. most of his auburn is still hanging out on the very top, so its like the front, sides, and back are short and blondish, and then he has this one patch of long curly hair right on top

Eyebrows and eyelashes are still very auburn.

I am also curious to see what his eyes will do, I have green eyes and DH has grey eyes. DS still has very blue eyes right now. DH is also part Japanese, his mom had brown eyes. Both of my parents have green eyes. DH & I both have dark brown hair, but his has an asian texture to it.

DS had darker hair at birth, and either very blond or no eyebrows. Now at 4 months his hair is a bit longer, and I think it will be a dark ashe blonde - it is very fine like mine and my dad's (who I take after quite a bit), and his eyebrows are a shade or two darker.

Now, if he takes after me, the hair on his head will lighten quite a bit with sun exposure - I was white-blonde some summers - but now I have dark ashe blonde hair. DH was blond as a child, but has dark brown hair now, and blue eyes. Mine are green, as are both my parents. DH's mom has green eyes and FIL has blue. I kind of hoped DS's eyes would turn green, but I think they will stay blue.

My DS was born with a decent amount of dark brown hair, so I wrote in his baby calendar that his hair was dark brown. LOL, I should have held off awhile before I put that in ink! It's been slowly falling out and is being replaced by light brown and blonde hair! He's 5 mo now and just has a little dark brown patch in the back to remind me of his original hair. My hair is dark brown and DH was blonde as a kid, but is now light brown, so he's had both of our hair colors. I don't think DS's eyebrows have changed, they're light brown. His eyelashes are dark brown. I'm really curious to see what color eyes he will end up with because they're currently mostly blue with little brown specks.

It's really fun to browse through all of his baby pics and watch his hair color change. I didn't realize how dramatic it was until I looked back at his newborn pics.

Yes! I totally did this the other day, I went back through all his pictures. I had forgotten how thick and curly it was, just two months ago!

My DD was born with thick, almost black hair. It slowly started changing and is now thick curly light blond. It was kind of funny because she had dark hair with blond roots. Her eyebrows were a lighter brown i think and now are blond.

DS was born with black hair, and no eyebrows or eyelashes! Now his hair is dark blonde, and he has lovely eyebrows and eyelashes.

I have really dark hair, and DH has the blondey-red hair, so I'm not sure if it will darken again or keep lightening.

Oldest daughther had very dark brown hair, and it stood up straight off her head. By 3-4 months it had all fallen out and she was fairly bald. When she did start growing hair, it was white blonde and still stood straight up. Her hair even now grows really slow, she hasn't had a haircut in over 18 months and still her hair doesn't touch her shoulders. It's curly in the back and straight on the sides.

Middle dd kept her hair and hair color-dark brown. Youngest daughter didn't have hair at all until about a year old. Now it is thick and turning from honey blonde to light brown.

My kid was born with light brown hair. It all fell out by the time he was about 4 months old and for awhile he looked like a total baldie. Now, at 9 months, he's got a full head of white-blonde hair. His eyebrows are transparent and his eyelashes are very light brown, so the blonde is probably here to stay. At least till puberty.

DS was born with darker hair and lots of it. By the time he was 4 months old, he needed his first haircut and what was left was nearly blond. By the time he has was 6 months old, his hair was more of a strawberry blond. It still gets lighter in the summer since he is out in the sun more too. His eyebrows have always been a very light blond.

DD was born with darker hair, but nowhere near as much as her brother had. At almost 10 months old, her hair is a light brown color with shades of blond throughout. Her eyebrows are the same color as her brothers; a very light blond. I don't know if this means she will eventually have blond hair or not. We don't plan on cutting her hair for a long time, but we can see some blond hair at the roots and underneath the longer areas of hair.

don't remember about the eyebrows but ds1 was born with brown hair that went blond towards the 11mth mark and he is still blond at 3 yrs old

ds2 born with dark hair and it seems to be lightening up

ds1 born with blue eyes now a grey-blue. ds2 couldn't tell what colour his eyes were now very blue. both seem to take after me as dh has almost black hair and brown eyes, and i have auburn hair and blue-grey / blue eyes (they change colour a lot)

my younger sister has 2 kids and same thing - born with dark hair and both are now blond.

my kiddos are much older so we have seen it pretty much become permenant.

dd was born with just enough hair that you could tell it was going to be red. very light eyebrows. Now at 16 it's dark red and curly but you can barely see her eyebrows and eyelashes. She wound up with brown eyes which is apparently pretty genetically rare.

ds1 was also born with just a red haze on his head and eyebrows and lashes. his hair was slow but steady to come in and when it did, he had a bright red mop at 2. At 13 he still has bright red hair, his brows have a bit of a dark tint but the hair on his legs is orange and just about see through. he has hazel eyes.

ds2 has born completely and utterly hairless and stayed that way past 2. At just about three his hair was coming in strawberry blonde and really, really curly. At 11 it's still this way to the point you can hide a box of crayons in it. his brows and lashes are just about see through. His eyes stayed blue until he was about 8 and now they are blue green.
