Wool cover-how to prep?

I know this has been asked a million times but the search function isn't working for me. I just bought an Imse Vimse wool cover, this one, and I don't know how to prep it!

With the other dipes I bought I washed them 3 times and line dried them. How many times do I wash the wool cover? With what temp water? With what detergent? The store threw in a bottle of Imse Vimse Woolcure, do I use that every wash, or just once a month? Is it the same thing as lanolizing? If not, how and when do I do that?

Thanks!

Oh, didn't realize but with my other new dipes, (mostly all in ones and inserts for Thirsties and Grobaby) all three times I washed them I used the eco-nuts, was I only supposed to use it on one wash? Should I rinse them again?

With lanolized wool, you can air it out between uses and unless it's poopy only wash it every 3 weeks. Crazy, right? But the lanolin actually has a chemical reaction with the urea to form soap, in effect washing itself.

Lanolizing is when after washing you dissolve some lanolin (Lasinoh nipple cream for instance) in lukewarm water and soak the wool cover in it briefly, then you can spin dry it in the washer and let it air dry the rest of the way after that.

So does it come lanolized though? And then can I just use it straight from the store without washing it a few times first? Do I have to lanolize every month on top of using the woolcure?

i dont know about this specific wool cover. does it say on the packaging anywhere if it needs lanolizing? if not, i would assume it does. i dont think you need to wash it at all aside from lanolizing it. like the pp said, disolve some lanolin in a bowl of warm water and let it soak just a bit. i let ours soak about 15 min. then either spin dry or roll it up in a towel and step on it to get the water out. then let air dry. if the cover gets a lot of poop on it (too much to gently spot clean), its time to wash. if it is starting to smell, wash it. you won't need to do this often unless its getting pooped on a lot. wool is amazing i always lanolize after washing, but i don't think you have to do it every time. if wetness is getting through the cover, you need to lanolize. it sounds weird, but you'll see what we mean after you start using it.
