Hello Mamas,

Ugh. My 4.5 yr old is generally helpful, sweet, rambunctious without being aggressive. Until today for some reason. At music class he was literally climbing the walls. Fine, whatever, we had a good early afternoon. Went to the park later this afternoon and he played with a couple kids (6 & 4) we often see there. He started pretending to shoot lazers at them, they were into it, playing a chasing game for awhile, until they were over it. They pretended to put out his fire, spraying him with an "extinguisher". Cute. Well, he didn't get it. I explained they didn't want to play that game anymore, stop chasing them, keep your hands to your own body (he had actually lightly pushed the boy, very unlike him), etc. I told the kids to tell him they didn't want to play, to stop, etc. if they didn't want to continue, and checked in with the boy he pushed and with their nanny. Ds1 decided to pick up a big stick and go toward the boy with it! I decided we needed to leave, took ds1 to the edge of the park to get rid of the stick and got my toddler. While getting the toddler, ds1 gets some dust and throws it at the kids!!! Oy! I was mortified. Thankfully the nanny was understanding.

While walking home, ds1 kept saying, "why oh why did I get the dust?" I'm at a loss. The only tv he watches is pbs kids every couple days. Although dh has showed him a couple old school transformer shows-I'm not down with that. He has been playing with an older neighborhood kid in our yard, that could be part of it. I'm just confused and bummed. Are your 4.5 yr olds like this? Any ideas? I always set ground rules before getting to the park, music class, whatever so we're on the same page. I soo don't want to take him to the park tomorrow. BTDT? Thanks so much, Mary
