The past few nights, my daughter has been nursing all night long, we haven't gotten much sleep. Today when we settled down to nap, after a few minutes nursing, my daughter started crying that there is no milk, it's all gone, they're both empty. She's almost 3, we've never had any problems with breastfeeding- even the newborn period was super easy for us both. So, first, what the heck is going on? Why would my supply suddenly dwindle? It's very unlikely that I'm pregnant, the demand is still there, and I can't think of anything else. What could I do to get my body to make more milk, or start making milk again? I've never pumped and don't think I could really start up with that now, it seems really intense. Also, what can I do to help my daughter? This is so hard on her! I'm still letting her suckle but she is not being gratified. I'm especially worried because she has never fallen asleep without nursing...we can skip nap but bedtime is really just a few hours away!
