Do you drink anything out of bottles or cans?

I wanted to see if any of you drink out of plastic bottles or cans, I mean like bottled water...Would you think it is safe? I'm assuimg there would be BPA in storebought bottles, right? Me and my daughter are addicted to seltzer water. It has no artificial sweeteners or aspartame, and has an essence of whatever particular fruit and that is using natural flavor, not artificial, but the only thing is that it is carbonated. My 2.5 yr old loves the stuff. I tried to go without it for awhile and we both wanted it so bad. I wish I could cut down or cut back, but it was hard when I tried, and daughter asks for it all the time. She actually can't stand juice and won't even try juice when I offer it. She'd rather have seltzer water as her first choice, plain water as her second choice...so, I'm not sure what to do...

Seltzer comes both in plastic bottles or cans. Which would you say is worse? Would it be better if I just did away with the stuff?

You can buy it in glass also. I get the italian soda water in glass bottles at Whole Foods. Although we do drink stuff out of plastic also, mostly milk and sometimes juice.

We drink some beer, pop & spritzers out of cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles depending on whats available. I avoid plastic where I can, but I don't freak out over it like some do.

We drink mostly out of glass. I only drink out of plastic if it's water, and that's only because there aren't any other options at that point.

I absolutely concur that it would be better if you did away with the stuff. Not so much because of the plastic issue, but I seem to recall reading that carbonation leaches minerals from your body, and that's not something you want to be doing to yourself, much less your LO. On occasion would be one thing, but not as the main drink (or even every day, IMO).

That being said, I wouldn't try to replace it with juice. Juice is empty sugar, there's no reason to teach her to like it if she has the good sense not to. Stick with water for most of her/your liquid needs.

I drink bottled water exclusively. I have no idea if there's BPA in the containers - but it's not safe to drink tap water here, and plastic bottles are really the only choice at the store. These are the big 20 liter bottles that are made to be refilled.

Thank you guys...I want to start drinking more plain water and green tea too and make it iced...and possibly start making my own iced coffees (but not for drink all the time)

That is scary about the mineral thing and I actually do have a magnesium deficiency...wow...

I like the idea of that if I am going to have it, that it be in glass...our Whole Foods is kind of far though and husband can't stand it in there, ha

If I'm going to cut back/do without it, and going to keep it in the house, I will need to hide it from daughter...I hate doing it but wish I never started in the first place. It is addicting. I don't know why. One night without seltzer I almost lost my mind. And there is no caffeine or anything, why would I be addicted?

We do drink some pop in cans, dh and I drink beer in cans or glass bottles and we do sometimes drink bottled water in plastic bottles. We limit it anyways, so I'm not too worried.

We drink beer in glass bottles, and water from our RO system. The kids prefer their beer in cups. (J/K!!!)

FWIW, I think it's simply the carbonation you are addicted to. Honestly, other than just liking the taste of beer, I believe it's the carbonation that I like the most. When I kicked my Sprite habit, I realized it was the carbonation I really craved. At least I'm not drinking both anymore, lol.

You're right, it's the carbonation. I should've known the answer to this, but I didn't realize how I don't want anything to do with the bottle or can of seltzer if it has gone flat. It's amazingly refreshing, a freshly opened bottle or can of ice cold and fizzy seltzer...
