favorite Charlotte Mason book

We're looking to be literature based next year. We're doing a trial run the end of this year, and I want to do some reading. What is your favorite reading on the method? Detailed "how-tos" would be nice. But if there's something really good on the "big picture", what is it?

I would esp looove a "how to" ... I loove books, and we plan to tie in books and base everything (most) on books .. but it still seems a bit foggy as to the pratical penicl meets paper aspect ...

www.simplycharlottemason.com is very helpful as well.

www.amblesideonline.org has loads of reading/info for you. I have to admit, though, that I got overwhelmed with this one and gave up on CM emphasis for a while when I was using this one. I think it is very helpful, but you might want to tweak.

Really, the first one I listed is the easiest way to get going w/CM, I think.

I second Ambleside Online and The Charlotte Mason Companion by Karen Andreola.

I also really like Catherine Levison's "A Charlotte Mason Education" and Susan Shaeffer Macaulay's "For the Children's Sake".

Penny Gardner has a guide for $5 and a good site with tons of resources and links.

I belong to the Ambleside Online Year 0 yahoo group (not offically AO supported) but frankly i don't get a lot out of it.

I am still pretty shaky and the pratical rubber meets the road stuff -- but as for the ideal

Simply Charlotte Mason has a DVD seminar. Kinda pricey compared to most books, but really good. Or When Children Love To Learn.
