gassy baby help...

Does anyone have any advice for a really gassy baby??? I'm not sure if its just that she's going through a growth spurt or what but she seems to be really gassy a lot of the time. She grunts and gets upset and arches her back and then pulls her legs up to her tummy and eventually she passes gas. We do bicycles every chance we get and we try to burp her all the time (not just at feedings) to try to constantly keep things moving and I do the tummy massage stuff with her and that sometimes helps but its hard to do anything while it's happening because she get so tense.

The public health nurse who came over the other day recommended three different things that might help (gripe water, ovol drops and cocyntal). Has anyone tried any of these and had success. Is there anything else that people have tried and would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I probably sound like a broken record, but have you tried probiotics? Little amounts of probiotic powder put right in her mouth before nursing can help. Babies often struggle getting the right gut flora going in their first two months, even breastfed babies. Probiotics for infants have been shown to reduce gas, discomfort, and colic.

When my kids got really grunty- it always ended up being a foremilk thing. I feel like Nora and I are really getting the oversupply under control which is exciting. My poor Frankie was so gassy. he was also gaining a lb a week.UNtil I started block feeding, I could NOT nurse him if it had been less than 2 hrs or he was absolutely miserable. Nora has her grunty moments but NOTHING like my poor older boys.
