overnight with grandma

My daughter, who is 2 1/2, is preparing for her first overnight with grandma. She wants to go, and grandma wants to have her. She still wakes sometimes at night, and nurses to sleep when I'm available, but Grandma and I think she'll be ok without me there. The question is, will I need to pump while she's gone? I'll be without her for probably at least 24 hours.

I would just pump for comfort. My guess is that will only be once or twice, probably at least in the morning - enjoy your time off!

Maybe. Maybe not. You might be slightly uncomfortable, but it's probably doable. It won't affect supply or anything like that, only your comfort. Enjoy your night off!

It depends on how long dd will be gone, we left our dd with grandma while we went out of town overnight and the next morning/day I was miserable. I went from a B to D from engorgement and had full body aches by lunchtime. If DD is only going to gone from say dinner to breakfast, I'd say you'll probably be fine.
And if this helps our dd was fine with grandma, fell back asleep fine, even though at home she can't without nursing.

The first couple times my dd went to grandma and grandpas for the weekend I felt really sick (physically) without being able to nurse, and even with pumping. Recently though (and especially since she only nurses twice a day), I nursed Friday morning, pumped Sat. morning, and nursed Sunday afternoon when we were reunited, and I was fine...not uncomfortable at all. If she's gone for 24 hours I don't pump at all and seem to be fine. Haven't had any supply issues that I can tell. Good luck!

oh, and btw, dd seems to actually sleep BETTER at grandma and grandpas house! the reason she goes there for the weekend is b/c my mil is the baby whisperer! she's so good with my dd that she's had no trouble sleeping at all. with my parents, i don't think it would be the same situation, which is why she hasn't stayed the night with them yet!

LOL baby whisperer. Yeah that's my mom too. OF course it helps that she had 8 kids!

Yeah you probably will need to pump some. I left at that point nearly 2-yo girl (well and the big kids too, but staying the night is old hat to them) with my mom one weekend and certainly needed to pump. I forgot mine so I had to hand express, I don't recommend that if you're not great at it.
