does this make sense?

Well, I realized that I had miscalculated my last three cycles. They were 27 days, not 28. So, I went back and fixed that on FF. Now it's saying that I ovulated on CD13, rather than CD14. But I had suspected ovulation pains on CD15 (sharp pain in side, pressure in lower abdomen) on CD15. My question is ...is it possible to have O pains two days after you actually O, or is FF wrong?

It is possible. You can have O pains before, during or after O.

Depending on the cause, TonyaW is completely right.

Before ovulation your O pains are generally your ovaries gearing up to O.

During is very rare to actually feel as that only lasts about 15 minutes, if your O pains last more than that its not likely that you are feeling it as it is happening...

After ovulation your O pains are generally from the irritation the ovulation caused to the area around the ovaries.

So yeah, depending on the cause...

My O pains were always 2 days before O. I could actually tell, if I had pains on cd14 that O happened on cd16... before I got my temp rise on cd17 even! And it was always right... was very reliable.

Of course, some months I just never noticed them and I would also get them at times when I was not even Oing... (I would often get the same feeling right around 7dpo... was not implantation as this often happened months when I had no chance of pregnancy at all... was just irritation from the luteal cyst which develops every month during the luteal phase, hence the luteal phase name )

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. When they happened two days before, how long did it last? The sharp pains I felt only lasted about a minute, and the pressure maybe an hourish. I'm not even entirely sure they were O pains, this was the first time I felt/noticed it.

This is interesting, since my right ovary has been very sore for the past couple days. I sure HOPE I already ovulated, since the big expensive IUI was on Wednesday!

Sorry...that kinda turned it into all about me. I just also wonder if the original poster is right, if it's normal for the ovaries to hurt after ovulation. I'll go make my own thread about my stuff...I don't want to be a thread-jacker.

mine feel like a twinge... like someone has a thread tied around my ovary and pulls on it randomly. It can happen anywhere from 5 minutes to a couple hours for me... which is why sometimes I totally miss it at all.

Mine normally feel like achy in the day or so leading up to it, then I have a period of getting REALLY horny (all the hormones maybe?) and all the blood rushing down there and my ovary just aches and aches and then it all just stops - it the horniness/severe aching doesn't last that long (less than an hour total) and sometimes it isn't that obvious, though I've noticed a correlation with severity of O symptoms and length of luteal phase.
