Ovary Pain

Brunetta had a similar thread about this, but I didn't want to thread-jack. Here's my situation:

My right ovary has been very sore for the past couple days. As a background, I was injecting follicle stimulating hormones, so sore ovaries doesn't surprise me, but the TIMING does. I injected the ovulation trigger shot on Tuesday night. They told me I should ovulate about 36 hours later. I had the IUI on Wednesday, and all day I had strong heartburn feelings under my ribs and my boobs got super sore. This made me think ovulation was happening, but I don't really know. The next day (yesterday) the heartburn was gone and was replaced by super soreness in my right ovary (the one with all the little immature follicles and one biggie). It was so bad it sometimes made me double over. Today it's still super sore, though a bit better. I wonder if ovulation DID happen on Wednesday and the soreness is left-over irritation? Does that make sense? I sure HOPE I already ovulated, since the big expensive IUI was on Wednesday!

it very easily could be considering you triggered... it could also be the other ones that did not produce an egg after the trigger dying off since the progesterone rise by now would have signaled to them that it is too late to ovulate.

See, this is why I'm not sure if I ovulated on the 10th or the 11th... I swear, I think it was the 10th, but I had ovary tenderness for the next couple of days after... but my cervix change and CM dryup coincided with ovulation on the 10th. SO... I bet it's just irritation for both of us :-) At least that is what I'm hoping since we dtd the 7 8 and 9 but not again until the 12.... I guess we will both see?

and you can also have pain from the corpus luteum cyst as it grows in the days after the egg pops out. tear, you probably popped a couple eggs out of that ovary, and probably have at least 2 corpus luteums, right?

Good point. I had five follicles in all (18mm, 11mm, 10mm, 9mm, and 8mm), although only one was mature, and my RE said I'd push all those teeny eggies out, too. Gosh...I hope they weren't really good ones wasted. Anyway, when you put it that way, no WONDER it hurts!

Thanks for the support everybody!!!
