I voted other. We did Rice milk from 1yr to 2yrs then do about 50/50 Organic whole milk and rice milk. Our DD is really small, so the doctors wanted us to do whole milk for the calories. But she loves the rice milk so we go back and forth.

DS wasn't interested in anything but water until cow's milk was introduced at daycare around 14 mos. It took him a few more weeks to be willing to drink it at home and still (16.5 mos) he prefers water by far. I offer milk once or twice a day for a change from water but he drinks very little of it.

I have also offered him diluted juices, rice milk and soy milk from time to time (just for variety) but always says no - I guess he's just a water boy which is fine with me.

DS started whole organic cow milk around 2 1/2 yo. Before that he only got human milk and water.

We do regular cows milk at home. My 20 mth old is on whole and my 2 and 5 yr old are on 2%.

At around 13 months we started on organic cows milk, we still drink organic cows milk.

When I stopped pumping for Olivia, she was 15 months old. She has always been sensitive to dairy, so I started giving her rice milk. She loves it. We buy it from the local organic food co-op near our home, but you can buy non-organic varieties anywhere. I like that it is fortified with calcium. We always provide water in a cup and juice as an occasional treat. She still nurses 1-2 times per day, mostly in the evenings.

I voted other. Dd is 8 now, so I came here from the main page. Dd nursed past 3. Somewhere around 3, she started drinking skim/fat-free cow's milk. She was in the process of self-weaning when I started letting her drink some of my skim milk.

I make Almond milk, and my kids love coconut milk from the young coconuts.

I would completely avoid soy!

Almond milk. We've also done Hemp and my child loved it, but it's very expensive. We started at 1 year, but neither really took to it till much later.

Almond milk, but only on cereals and for baking and cooking. My kids don't drink glasses full or anything.

We're water people.

I'd also avoid soy milks and I heard something awhile back that said rice milks had some levels of arsenic in them....you can Google that to learn more if you so desire.

Both of my boys have dairy allergies. We have rice, soy and coconut milk on hand most of the time. DS1 started on soy when he was 1 because he was in daycare and I wanted to stop pumping. DS2 has had one little cup of coconut milk, which he liked, but other than that he gets all of his milk from me. In fact, when I gave him that cup of coconut milk my older DS said "But he doesn't get milk from a cup! He gets milk from your body!!!"

He drinks water most of the time, and occasionally I'll put the tiniest splash of OJ in his water. He sees cartons in the fridge and gets it in his head that he needs whatever is in them, so that's how I get out of that particular toddler tantrum battle.

"Give" is not the most accurate word for us. At about a year we started allowing DS to taste milk from our glasses (local raw cow)- which he'd been trying to take from us for a couple of months. Over time he began to ask for his own cup and to have it on cereal. At this point (almost 3yo) he probably drinks about half to one cup per day between small glasses of it and cereal. He is still nursing, but he definitely views "bubby milk" and "cold milk" as completely different beverages.

DD is 18 months and still nursing often, but in her sippy cup (1 per day, the rest water) and bottles (twice a week when I work) she gets soymilk. We are vegan so we don't do any dairy at all. I stopped pumping milk for her bottles at about 14-15 months old and started doing the soymilk in sippy cups at probably 16-17 months.

We alternate almond, soy, oat, hemp and hazelnut milks. Only in food really, water is the drinkingdrink since dd weaned at 25m.

How does hazelnut taste like it sounds fabulous, is it sweet. We do raw goats milk, I put stevia in it and he is all over it. We tryed hemp and coconut, almond, rice, I think hemp and coconut are the best .

Rice milk here. I go back and forth on if soy milk is good for the kids and I really feel like they don't need milk from another animal, since we're humans. I do want some kind of milk for stuff like cereal, so we mostly use rice milk.
