Suzuki or Kodaly?

Does anyone have experience with either of these? DD (almost 4) is asking to play a "real" instrument. She has good rhythm and pitch and seems musical compared to other kids.

She also wants to start a band and write songs, and asked, "can I do that when I'm 5?"

Anyway, I'm just starting to look around for something that may satisfy her. We did Music Together for a long time, but that's definitely not going to meet her needs now.
thanks,

Just one bump. No one has done early instrument lessons?

Both can be good-- interview a couple of teachers and see who you like best.

I really liked Suzuki for both of my boys, one played cello, the other played violin. They started when they were 5 and really enjoyed it, especially the group recitals! I liked how they did those because the younger kids sounded great with the older kids playing with them and I think it helped them really get the way it was supposed to sound.
After they got through the first few books, they were up to orchestra age at school so they moved on from Suzuki and had a good base of techniques and ability to listen to music.

I did lots of research into Suzuki piano for my son last year but ultimately we went with traditional piano. We had originally looked into Suzuki because one of his classmates in JK was in it and her parents were very pleased with her progress. My son was 5 years, 3 months old when he started and is now reading music and enjoying practising and going to lessons. He has a great teacher which, I believe, is key when teaching young children no matter what method you choose.
