5yo is just. so. LOUD

My 5yo DS is loud. Always has been. Loud, loud, loud. I'm not talking about when he's upset, or seeking attention...his normal speaking voice is always about 4 times louder than any other child's. His hearing has been tested, he's healthy, he's whip-smart.
His younger brothers (4yo and 2yo) are showing signs of adopting this. Any advice on getting his to bring it down a few notches?

Our 8-year-old is this way-it makes me CRAZY especially in our tiny house. So far, not much success with fixing it though-just constant reminders that we are standing right there, no need to yell, etc.. Dd also shows signs of picking this up (she is 3) which worries me. Anyway, I can definitely empathize!

My 4 yo does this, I start whispering to him. It usually quiets him down for a while. Then I remind him if he would like to yell, please put on his shoes and go in the backyard.

Have you gotten his hearing tested? Hearing loss (even slight) can cause people to talk loudly.

OP said his hearing has been tested.

Have you asked him why he talks so loudly? He might have an interesting and unexpected explanation that helps you understand how to deal with it.

MY 6 YO DS IS THE SAME WAY. LOUD AND NONSTOP..NEEDS TO BE A PART OF EVERY CONVERSATION. ALL. THE. TIME.

I haven't had his hearing tested, although i think they've tested him at school, but he often times mispronounces words that he has just heard, or misunderstands things that we say.. so I've always suspected his hearing..

My boys are the same. So is their dad!!! That's where they get it from, of course. Just strong, loud voices. My hearing is sensitive so it can be hard to deal with. Also, for years we couldn't sit in the chapel at church because when they talk they are SO loud and the younger especially has no concept of whispering. He'll think he's whispering but he's speaking very loudly. The younger boy is just starting to learn how to control the level of his voice.

Now, my younger son, I have not had his hearing checked since he was a baby (normal then). I don't think that's the problem but I'm going to look into it.
