I am expecting in June, and want to purchase my newborn items in advance. I have 2 doz newborn prefolds and some covers I got in brand new condition off craigslist. I'd like to also have maybe a dozen fitted diapers as well for dh/middle of the night. So velcro to make it super simple. Looking at muttaqiun and kissaluvs 0 and it doesn't sound like either is terrible absorbant. I'd love a product that would last from 8 until 15 lbs - my babies both hit 16 lbs at 4 months, at which point I'd probably have to change into a one size diaper. Maybe that size range isn't realistic though?

I love nanipoos for newborns. They are afordable, absorbant and cute. her sizing chart says 8-12lbs I believe but my son is 15lbs and they just got too tight. I'm not sure if she is stocking her store right now-she had a personal tragedy but It's worth checking.

I also like Tykie diapers. I bought my son a few smalls that fit from birth and still fit realy well.

I've heard very good things about the Mother Ease Sandies diapers. Depending on how big you're expecting your little one to be they have newborn (6-12 lbs) or small (8-20 lbs) sizes. Some people use the smalls right from birth, though I imagine they are a bit bulky unless you have big babies. But they have snaps, not velcro, sorry. They're supposed to be very absorbent though.

We've used Bamboozles size 1 since DS was born at under 7lbs. They have snaps instead of velcro, but they are so soft, very absorbent even for his big pees now, and they go up to 18lbs. They fit him even when he was skinny legged and we haven't had issues with leaking (rarely have anything get on the cover). A bummis super whisper or super brite or thirsties size small fits best (we used thirsties XS when until 8lbs and it still worked fine).
We started using them after 2 washes and now that they've been washed a bunch they're very absorbent. We line dry and tumble when they're just damp--really fluffs them up.

I know this isn't aplix, but it looks relatively easy. I kind of have my eyes on these for our next LO, too. I am a big AIO fan, though, so that skews my opinion.

Again, not Aplix, they're snaps, but we really got a good fit with LoveyBums. Personally I've gotten rid of all the Aplix in my stash. Especially in the middle of the night, it's easy to think it's tight enough right up until the poo starts leaking out the leg hole. So i much prefer snaps. Most of the rest of the dipes I was using were WAHM dipes. I do still love (and use) Dream-Eze (just moved into Med at 6 mos), and Swaddlebees pocket fitted (not their regular fitted, which still doesn't fit right).
