A "bee"pportunity!

Well, we built a top bar hive and were hoping to catch a wild swarm that has taken over our cabin in the woods. But since they've started making their comb it will involve alot more to get them out than we thought. Soooo, I got to thinking about this old man who came to our house a few years ago to get a swarm out of our tree. It was Fall and I was worried that the bees would die. I found this man thru the county extension office. So I looked him up and called him yesterday. Long story short, he has offered to set us up with a healthy, established colony of bees in "standard equipment", which would be ours to keep, for $100. He will come and set it up and teach us all about it. He will be available for questions any time. He has kept bees for over 50 years! I'm so excited! He will take half the bees each time we split the hive, and I think it's well worth it. He is excited to mentor us, and we simply cannot replace this hands-on learning experience! I just had to share!

That's very exciting. A hands on mentor is priceless.
