Dd's room HELP me decide "theme"

So b/c of space ect. DD(16m) took over our somewhat unfinished room, and we've switched rooms.

Right now its a fairly nice muted orange. With wooden curtain rods and a black ceiling fan. Light hardwood floors. Im needing to finish painting the closet/set up a closet system for her

Here's the thing. Im not sure about leaving it orange. The majority of our house is orange(mine and dh's fave color) and I feel she got thrown into the room.

I'm either thinking of a nice grey where I can add in pinks, purples and turquoise blue acsessories(pillows bedding curtains). Rod iron curtain rods and two black floating shelves. One on each side of the main focus window to hold her "ornamental crap"

OR

keep the orange and go somewhat "bollywood" India theme. Do a black swirly border around the ceiling. Really big bold bedding colors

Thing is I wouldn't have to do MUCH more painting/I can scavange a lot of the acssories frm around the house if I do India styles BUT I dont really feel that is her style(I know shes 16ms)

HELP

If you don't think that orange suits her, do you have a color in mind that would? My children started gravitating to a "favorite" color at a young age. I would be tempted to paint the room a more neutral color, even green, yellow, blue, or like your suggested gray, could be considered a neutral if it is light. Then you could add accents based on her likes.

Im thinking with the gray I could accent with purple for now and as she gets older she can change her mind and go with pinks or blues or greens.

The more I look at the orange the more I think that it doesnt suit her...off to look at paint I guess

my son's favorite color is orange--as far as i can tell. LOL

so, he would go for it.

that being said, i think that right now, go for the simplest process where you have to buy the least to make it look great. and as she identifies what she likes and doesn't, you can adapt to that as she grows.

keep it simple for yourself, you know?

I'd keep the orange but made the trim, etc a crisp white and add in girly pink accessories.

I love the photo of the Indian theme! I also like the idea of pink and gray though.

I am torn for you, lol! When DD was an infant, I painted and decorated her room and it looked very pretty. However, once she turned 3, her real little personality began coming out and when we moved at almost 4, I replaced her bed set with some pieces that suited her more. I think when she was still a tot the room was more my taste (since of course she could not talk and tell me her own yet) but it has become a lot easier the older she gets.

I would almost recommend keeping the room the way it is or painting it neutral so you can change it later when she develops her own little style. I love the idea of the bedspreads daytripper posted - the JCP one has plenty of sweet orange in it while incorporating the other colors, too.

I am just think to keep it simple for yourself until she is old enough to tell you what she really would love to have

I think I've decided on a really nice grey color. Im thinking the grey will be more of a simple color. And I can add accessories and as she grows she can add in her colors. Not to mention when and if we resell soon the grey would look better since it is the "master bedroom"
