And

In my indio didymos (sonne/natur)!

She says froggying is for chumps.

She wants her legs OUT!

In the Pikkolo.

In the ring sling.

She's the cutest with her legs out in the moby. I'll have to get a picture of that.

Also, I may have gone on an aisle I didn't even need to get anything from just to tell a lady at Target today that her ring sling was beautiful. I rarely see people wearing their kids in slings (mostly Bjorns or maybe an Ergo), so I figured she might like a compliment on it instead of an "OMG! CAN HE BREATHE IN THERE?!?!?!"

Sprout in his sling!

He's getting close to too big to wear in it, and I'm going to be so very sad when that happens. I love the snuggly!

Jen, Sprout is adorable and obviously growing great despite your BFing woes!
Everyone's carrier-ed baby is so cute. I wish someone lived closer and could show me how to do the ring sling properly... I was using it primarily with her in a reclined position and now she hates it and it makes her slumpy and breathe weird .
So we're good with the Moby, but it's too dang hot. We're not ready for the Ergo even with the infant insert (but give it another week and maybe). I have 2 ring slings AND a regular one but can't get a great position that doesn't hurt my back, piss the baby off, or make me worry.
I'm mostly carrying her in arms these days which she likes best anyway...

Try looking on youtube for videos on how to use the ring sling. basically from what i know you want to pull the inner rail tight so that the inside edge of the sling is tight against your body. then you can either froggie her in, or stick her legs out the bottom. If you stick her legs out you want to make sure some o the material is under her butt...basically you want her sitting in the pocket of the ring sling with her knees above her butt. I also make sure to spread the shoulder out some. Then tighten the outer rail so that the sling is snug on her back. If you do some searcing on youtube it should make more sense.

I juuuuust posted pictures of my 8yo wearing the baby:

http://lifeatnikis.blogspot.com/

I still can't do any better than the wrap, so I've ditched everything else. My wrap is just a 4yd length of organic hemp, it has a little give but not much; that's how I like it, but it the low stretchiness of the fabric means I have to get the wrap just right or we're uncomfortable. With stretchier fabrics I've had issues with babies moving further and further down as I move around, and with their weight shifting around too much as I move.

Niki, mine's 6 yards of cotton gauze, and it's just perfect for me. It's so hot here, gauze is so nice and breathable, and I can wrap her however I need to, whether it's facing in when she's sleeping or facing out when she's wide awake. I really like having a woven wrap that's not stretchy, personally, and I think it will last a long time (especially since Cecilia's pretty tiny!)

On my back in the Cuddly wrap (I know, I know, shouldn't back wrap with a stretchy wrap, but he's secure, I promise!)

My new woven so i can do safe back carries

Amazing - I havn't managed back carries yet! lol

And yeah - I agree with Aimee. I love my indios. I love a good woven wrap!

Jealous, Rhi! Trying to justify spending ~80 for anything these days is tough...

Ring sling, two weeks old. This is my go-to carrier. I actually keep it in the car on the floor under her car seat b/c I HATE to carry the seat. Unbuckle her, pop her in, and we are off! I just made myself another one for around the house b/c I don't want to take it out of the car & forget it. The blue one is Sleeping Baby & I used Jan's pattern to make my new one.

Moby wrap, about three weeks old. We were at March for Babies, that is dd1 trying to chew her way to freedom, HAHA!

I also have a cotton (non-woven, non-stretchy) wrap, an Ergo, a Kozy Carrier, and a rebozo. The Moby wins for second-most pain in the ass to put on, but most comfortable. Ring sling is easiest to put on, pretty comfy. I have done the back carry w/ both the Kozy and the rebozo. The rebozo, I wish someone had been here to take a pic b/c I have not been able to manage it again. It wins for most pain in the ass. Kozy is extremely easy to put on front or back, somewhat comfy. It pulls on the shoulders too much.

I do the same. I just wear whatever sling I plan to use those so I can pop him in whilst in the car before we get out (handy if the weather is a bit crap! lol).

Rhi, tell me more about this Solarweave Connecta. It kinda seems like it would be perfect for Florida summers.... How does your LO fit into it? Is it scratchy?

I hear ya. I am lucky because I have a friend with a bit of a carrier addiction, so I get to try all sorts of fun carriers. The only carriers we've actually paid for are the pikkolo and the ergo (both used)

I think it's probably the best buckle carrier for the heat. The material is super thin, but it's not stretchy, nor does it feel like it's going to give out. It's not scratchy at all. She fits into it very well as long as she is willing to froggy. If she's not in the mood to froggy it still seems a bit wide for her legs, since the front doesn't cinch. But that will only get better with time. I love that it's made to take in the water. We have a summer festival that we go to every year in about a month, and I'm hoping my friend will be planning to use something else, so that I can use the connecta. It'll be great if there is a mist tent this year- I can go in it with her and not worry about the carrier. I also love that it is SPF or whatever.

It's 59 pounds, which google tells me is 85 dollars- but I assume shipping from overseas is outrageous. But my friend found hers used for 85 dollars including shipping.

Good idea, but I can't do that as dd2's carseat is next to the door. DD1 is in the middle b/c her seat is too tall to fit behind the passenger seat.

Also, the back carry is convenient for doing household chores, but once you sit down to relax, there is no leaning back! Can we say back strain, hrm.

I'm loving the babyhawk I got. I haven't tried to put her legs out in it yet. Not sure if she's big enough gor that yet.

Poor moby is neglected. I'm still finding the moby useful for when she's awake, to go for a walk in because she likes to lean out and look around. I look forward to when she has the head control to do the lotus hold as The whole leaning out thing can be a pain with a baby that doesn't have good head control though.

It's funny, this baby wearing addiction. I can already feel myself thinking about how a sling might be handy....the salesclerk that sold us the mei tai confessed to owning 20 different carriers.

So, I now NEED a connecta solarweave. My carrier obession grows! Any ideas where to go or lurk for good deals on carriers?

DH and I were stopped in the Whole Foods parking lot today by a man who saw DH wearing Sprout in one of my homemade pouches. Apparently he and his wife have a 9 week old and some carriers, but their son fusses whenever they put him in. DH and I laughed and told him how normal that is and to "walk laps around the kitchen" until he calms down. We shared a few other tidbits about various carriers. Now I wish I'd exchanged email addresses! I hate the idea that there's a mom and dad out there who want to carry but can't find the resources to help!
