Please advise: should I buy an iPod classic or nano

I am clueless, please help! I want to use it for the following: storing CDs (but I only have about 30 at the moment), playlists, podcasts. I don't care about video. I expect to use it mostly in the dock at home, as a CD player/radio, rather that for walking or exercising. TIA!

Dh has a nano (that used to be mine) and I have a classic. If you aren't going to be using it for excercising, get a classic. You get way more storage for your money. A classic is a little bulky for excercising, but I love it in a dock at home. The nano has video/camera and a small external speaker. The classic doesn't have these, but I don't miss them. I think my nano was 8 gigs and my classic is 160, gigs - and it really didn't cost that much more.

If you are only going to use it at home to listen in the dock on speakers, I'd just listen to cds. CDs sound better than mp3s through external speakers.

If you are dead set on getting a player just for at home then either one will do. Although personally I prefer the classic and ipod touch. The classic for large collections and the touch for versatility and access to the app store.

That is helpful, thank you. The reason I want an iPod rather than a CD player is that I also want to listen to podcasts, and I want to make my own playlists. Also, I know the classic is a bit big, but I can still use it for walks, or on the subway, if I need to.

You can't go wrong with the classic. I've had my 160 gig one for about 4 years and it's still my music and podcast device of choice over my iphone, ipad and shuffle.
