weakness and pain in my arms

I am pregnant, but this started about a year ago. I was wondering if anyone had anything relatively related? For the passed at least year I have had strange attacks of weakness in my arms, especially my hands. It has gotten to the point where I cant even peel potatoes without my arms and hands feeling like I have no strength and the pain associated with it feels like knives. Oddly it doesn't hurt to knit, but if I knit more than a few minutes at a time without stopping then my hands get numb. Any ideas? Is it age? I am 33, going on 34.......

B12 deficiency causes pain & numbness in the hands/arms, feet/legs

I had something similar. I had a coq10 deficiency (from a suspected metabolic condition) but all kinds of deficiencies can cause nerve pain. The weakness would concern me too. (mine was, again, metabolic). It could be something easy to fix (like deficiencies). It could be nerve entrapment. Could be more. Any others symptoms? This sounds neurological (nervous system and/or brain). I'd start with neurology.

Where is the pain?
It could be from your back or from neuropathy, which could be caused by a vitamin deficiency.

hmmm, wow, Im glad it may just be as simple as a vitamin deficiency. The pan is in my hands, terrible sharp shooting pain and the weakness in my arms hits hard, like I dont feel pressure in my arms, but a weakness like Jello. Trying to cut anything or straighten my hair or anything that involves closing my hands in any sort of fashion with any amount of pressure is terrible. Writing is torture. Typing doesn't hurt. I have put it off and off with the Drs, I tend to only go if I am dying or pregnant, lol.

I think you need to be seen by a Doctor. This is something I wouldn't put of.

I think you should go see a dr. You can get a B 12 test to see if you are deficient but it sounds like a nerve problem with entrapment like a pp said. Is the pain in your whole hand or in specific areas?
Like in carpal tunnel syndrome, for example, you would feel the pain in the thumb and 1st 2 fingers and palm. It could feel sharp like pins and needles and be very severe.
You could have a numb feeling too and your grip can get very weak. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be exacerbated during pregnancy also.

Depending on the pattern of pain/numbness, it could be entrapment in different areas with different nerve pathways involved.
I hope you get an answer soon, leaving it go for too long can result in muscle wasting because you can't use them.
