Using the moon..!!

So I found these articles today -

And I am *TOTALLY* psyched to start trying it..! (I have super long/irregular cycles)

My first question was if anyone else has been successful (or unsuccessful) at syncing up their cycle to the moon..?

My second question is why everything that I read says to block out ALL light for *every single day* except for the full moon days. Why not fluctuate the light like the actual moon cycle..? Using a dimmer or something..? Or even something awesome like this -

that's interesting. the weird thing is, if you check out the fabulous one thread (and please do anyway- it's a good thread and everyone is welcome to join in,) about two-thirds of us over there cycle together. i dont know how it is on the other popular threads, but like last month, at one point, 85% of us were in the 'waiting to o' category! only difference is, we are o'ing at the new moon, the opposite of what that article says.

but, btw, not sure what benefit there would be to mixing up the light at night in order to try to move your cycle around to coordinate it with the moon though, especially if you are ttc! anything that is going to mess with your cycle timing or length is probably just going to add to the frustration! i say, stick with the cycle you've got. (plus they do say it is important to sleep 'in the dark'- i tell my dh this all the time because he's always falling asleep on the couch with all the lights/tv on, and im always trying to get him into bed )

I had really long cycles before I conceived my daughter. I had read about syncing up with the moon a few months before I conceived her. I opened our blinds just enough that the moon was able to shine on me while I slept and it worked. Perhaps it was psychosomatic but my cycles were shortening and I was o'ing with the moon. After my daughter was born I was quite a bit more regular (once my cycles regulating with nursing) I was o'ing with the new moon and bleeding with the full which I've always found fascinating.

Soo, I didn't read the articles, but I wanted to chime in to say this:

I used to spend all summer, every summer working/living outside. I generally spent more nights in a tent or ope air than I did in a building. Those summers, I absolutely ovulated with the full moon and menstruated with the new moon. I am actually pretty close to that now, but not as tightly in sync. My lifestyle is unfortunately much more indoors these days...

I notice my patterns with the moon more in the Spring/Summer/Fall months when I actually see her more often than not.

I used to ovulate with the full moon, and menstruate on the new moon. Will try sleeping with our curtains open again, and see how that feels.

We do have other actual scientific factors that come into play so even if you try to align with the moon you do have to be sure to avoid the other factors... such as spending a large amount of time around other women who get their period as well (leaving out, of course, women on birth control that stops their cycles and pregnant/post menopausal women.)

While this fact is debated still... I 100% believe it as the times when my period messes up and goes crazy then go back to normal coincides with me suddenly moving in with other females (within 2 months I was synced with my mother and sister when I had to live with them) or getting a job with a large number of other females (you could always tell when it was PMS week at the office...)

I've read about this before and it was really interesting to me.

Mae--Same happened with me, my older little sister and my mom. My poor dad would hide while we all PMSed together (it got kinda scary some cycles! )

Hmm interesting to see it has worked for others too..!!
I don't really care if I coincide with the moon exactly but anything that would make my cycles shorter & more predictable would be a *HUGE* relief.. it's frustrating TTC where you have *NO* clue where you're at or even if you O.. lol

Okay, this could be a complete coincidence, but it's interesting: We used to have a heavy blanket/rug-like thingie hanging behind our bedroom curtains to make our room very dark. It fell down around a month ago and we never hung it back up. Our curtains are closed at night, but some moonlight pours in every night. This cycle I ovulated two days late, which is pretty unusual for me, and it happened to synch up with the full moon. The whole thing freaked me out, because my temp rise was delayed a day and I thought for sure I wouldn't ovulate this cycle. Again, could be random, but the full moon thing is interesting.
