teaching mamas about babywearing

I've helped several of my friends recently with baby wearing!

They are mostly mainstream but I always get comments about my ring sling and moby-type wrap. Yesterday I lent my wrap to a friend who is fostering a newborn and she was so happy to have some help. She was very interested in babywearing--she said that fostered kids need attachment therapy--but she was totally unfamiliar with carriers besides your standard snuggli-type carrier. So I taught her how to wrap the moby way and lent her mine!

Also, I gave a friend another stretchy wrap last year (an extra piece from the fabric I bought) and I've learned that she has since given several away to sisters and friends! I saw one of our common friends using one the other day with her newborn. She needed some help--the baby was kind of falling out. But I gave her some tips to get everything secure and safe and comfortable.

I feel so great that it is getting around and that I can help other moms.

Isn't it great how it spreads? I've had several friends pick up on babywearing (who probably wouldn't have otherwise) from talking to me about it. I'm so glad to be able to help those mommas out!

I haven't even had our baby yet, and just by me talking about it and explaining things (research and different types of carriers) to my SIL, she is now VERY interested in baby wearing. I told her next time I see her, I will show her my Moby wrap and show her how to put it on and carry her 3 month old DD. I've sent her several links to different sites and how to make them, so she doesn't have to spend so much money. I'm really hoping she gets into it as much as I have. It would help her out a lot. I think the one thing she is really excited about is being able to wear her and nurse and do things around the house. And maybe, this will allow her to take her DD to work with her sometimes instead of always being away from her. I know she would like that very much.
