Does starting clomid later push O later?

So I'm wondering if starting clomid later cd 4 or 5 would push ovulation out a couple of days too as compaired to taking it CD 2 or 3?
Certainly both timings are used by various doctors and they all seem to work. I know that starting early vs late is thought to lean you to more folicles vs larger folicles (can't remember which is which) so it does seem to work a tad different with different part of your cycle.

My challenge coming up this next cycle, is that depending on when af shows (she is 1-2 days late, yes I've tested, BFN) depending on when she shows I could be out of town for a weekend trip right when we need to do our IUI.
So right now I'm sitting here hoping I have a freakishy long LP and if that doesnt happen, that I have a way of stretching my next FP by just a day or two.

Any thoughts?

as far as I know, no. You will ovulate when your body is ready to after using the clomid (or shortly after the trigger if you trigger it)

What I'm asking is if "when it is ready" will be later. Since I use clomid to develop my folicle, will it get to triggering size in relation to what days I took clomid or just what CD it is. Clomid FDA site says folicle is ready 5-10 day after last dose. Leading me to think that o day can be moved slightly by what CD that dose falls on. I do use a trigger shot btw so I know we can push things around a tiny bit with that, but not much at all, that's mostly useful if you need to go a tad early.

As a general rule, unless you have zero follicular growth while not on clomid, is that clomid will not change your ovulation date. If you take it early, before a dominant follicle has emerged, many follicles can be stimulated and ovulate together. If you start later, once a follicle is already dominant, that follicle will grow better (not necessarily bigger in terms of size) and you wil still ovulate on the same day but with a better quality egg and better quality corpus luteum.

If you truly need to delay your ovulation a few days, you could ask for some estrogen (estrace, climara, etc). You can start taking it now and it will prevent follicles from developing until you stop and start stimulating. It is generally ok to wait until 6-7 days after AF to start stimulating. It is best to start taking it about 5 days before your period is due becaue follicles will sometimes start to grow before AF.

thanks for the info choked reply soso
that explains a bit about timing and follicles that i did not fully get, makes sense too now that i think about it.

i am having the very slightest of spots in my cm but only up at my cervix today. i assume it wont hold off too much longer. I will talk to me RE first thing in the morning and see if they are agreeable to doing anything to effect timing.

i do O on my own about half the time and wildly unpredictably at times. Usually a tad on the later side CD16-18 is my most "normal" time.

On clomid I have been ready to O and gotten triggered on CD13 or 14, and although it is not unheard of for me to O unaided on CD14 it is clearly considered early for me, So Clomid does move some things for me.

This cycle we are adding some injectables to the clomid, so i'm not sure how that will be different either. I have been finding it hard to find good reading on the combo and what that is like in terms of timeline and doses. most info i find is for straight injectables.
