CLo/butter oil question

I just bought butter oil and I plan on giving it to DD 3 times a day. How have you gotten your LOs to take it? It's hard too so I have to figure out how to melt it and give it to her.

She's been taking CLO for awhile so I think I'll leave that at 1/4tsp 2 times a day. Does that sound right?

I just got some too, along with CLO. I'm not sure how my DS will react (DH too!).

The BO isn't bad tasting per say but it doesn't really have much flavor. So I'm hoping mamas have some ideas how they have had success with their kiddos!

Well, if your LO takes CLO, why not just give her the BO mixed with it those 2x?

Depending on what your dc eats/drinks;
The 3rd dose can be drizzled on a grain dish or mixed in a drink, or a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt or custard.

my 2yo loves BO, my 4yo doesn't but eats it anyway. i just give it to them on a spoon, and the 4yo washes it down with his bit of juice and CLO.

We don't do BO, as I just ordered some, but DS takes his FCLO with a chocolate chip chaser.

How do you melt it?

DD will take CLO on a spoon with some juice mixed in I don't think her little spoon would be big enough for all 3 things I guess the part I'm really trying to figure out is how to melt it? How much BO should I give at each dose?

Thanks

I take a spoonful of BO and melt it by putting the spoon in a cupful of really hot water. I pour the BO into another spoon (so DD doesn't get a hot spoon) and add FCLO. Same process for me and DH.

Those who chose to take their spoonful get to have some honey afterwards. (Only way I can get DH to take his, and DD won't take hers if DH won't take his).

I don't like the taste of BO at all but I find it goes down much easier melted rather than solid.

Good luck!

Has anyone tried any of the BO flavors? I think they are Butter Pecan and Raspberry. Do those taste okay -- for kids or picky adults?

I add a small amount (enough for the family) to a glass pyrex measuring cup and place it on the stovetop on low 'til it melts (so it's warm, not hot- so keep a close watch). Then scoop it out onto our spoons.

It'll just melt on a warm grain dish. (what about another warm meal? warm soup, warm tea or other warm drink, some warm water?

Generally, people give equal doses of CLO with the BO... so 1/4 tsp.

ETA: The BO can be given in higher quantities than CLO.
For one child, Dr. Price recommended 1 tsp of BO w/ each meal- 5x/day.
But that would get really expensive.

And another great idea! Ya 5x a day would be EXPENSIVE! I'm going to try 3x at 1 tsp. Thank you!

yeah, wish it weren't so expensive or we would take it. That is why we use loads of kerrygold butter. Still is cheaper than butter oil.

Ya we are still using butter but DD has stopped eating as much and has become very picky so I needed something I could supp to insure her getting K.

Hopefully this pickiness won't last very long
