DD is 3, and im starting to freak out about where she is going to go to school! I cant seem to find any options here in the DFW area that dont cost 30k or are no better than public schools, does anyone know of any good options?

What part of DFW to you live in? I'm seriously considering Barbara Gordon Montessori in Colleyville for my son for the fall. He goes to a smaller Montessori school in Bedford right now.

It is, but it's not 30k. lol It's about 9k for full day primary (3-6yo). I'm thinking there is a Montessori school in Arlington. I don't know much about it, but it might be less expensive. Here's the website. http://www.tmaonline.org/info.shtml

What are you looking for in a school? Do you want part time/full time? Are you looking for a school where your DC can stay through elementary?

How about the The Hockaday School and Dallas International. Neither school costs $30,000 for PK, maybe only half as much.

well 9k might as well be 30k to us

DD goes to a preschool now part time im more worried about actual "school". My husband and i both work full time and are both in school so we just dont have alot of extra funds, or time but i would really like to find a school where she could go 3 days a week and then home school 2 days a week. And somewhere with diversity, not just rich kids you know? I went to private schools as a kid and i was always the "poor" kid, i dont want that for my dd. I want school to be about having fun, and making friends, and being a kid and learning while doing that, not about tests, grades and college and status. Which seems to be really really hard to find around here.

Are smaller Christian schools an option? 9K is actually inexpensive for a private school education in a large city like Dallas. Tuition rates at top private schools generally begin around $12-13K for preschool and increase to about $20-25K. Who knows how much high school will cost 15 years from now.

Christian schools offer affordable tution, anywhere from $3500 a year to 11,000 a year for high school, but often the facilites and resources are lacking. Not always, but sometimes.

I'm pretty devoted to Montessori education for my son atm, but if I wasn't I would definitely look into that school more. And the tuition can't be beat!

DD goes to a small christian school now, but its lutheran and really does not involve religion into much of the day. DH and I are not christian, and living here in texas where most ppl are im dont really am not too comfterbale with her going somewhere where she will feel like an outsider for not going to church or where DH and I will be seen as "needing to be saved". And i want her to appreciate and others belifs and cultures.

I grew up about a mile from that school, and the neighborhood is just a little rough, and how the school is set up its self there is just not really safe imo. They are in seprate "houses, and the doors where not kept locked when i went to visit.

My son attends an International School that I love because of ethnic diversity. He attended a great Lutheran School before changing schools.

Have you spoken with parents and administrators about your feelings? Have their been many instances of violence perpetrated by residents of the neighborhood?

Have you considered Kinderplatz of Fine Arts, Inc. (2701 Riverglen Drive,
2701 Riverglen Drive, 817 207-0660, www.kinderplatz.org) in Fort Worth? I don't have any experience with it, but on paper (and the internet) it sounds really good. It is supposed to be a preschool that teaches through the arts (music, art, movement and drama). I first read about it in a book called Organizing a Youth Orchestra.
