Need a good, deep birth pool...

That's cheap. The aquadoula is my back up plan but 250 is a lot for us. I know some moms use "fishy pools" but I need it to be deep enough for me to have my whole huge belly in..KWIM?
Any suggestions?

I just got the La Bassine. It is 26 inches deep. It was 125 Canadian for me.

I'm torn too... I was planning to get the fishy pool but I'm hesitant because I want to be able to submerge. I'm not tall though... 5'3 ish.

Are you hiring a doula? You could always rent one...

We have a pitiful hot water heater though so is there a way to have a heater that goes in it?

The la bassine doesn't seem any deeper than the fishy pool... It's just longer and wider if I'm reading the measurments right...


ETA: Nevermind it IS 2 inches deeper... (25 vs 23)... Is 2 inches worth the extra $$ though?

I like that one and I even found another on there that I like..but how do I warm the water!?

To give you an idea, we shower and bathe with the water on full out hot!

WHat about boiling water on the stove? Once you egt it to temp, cover it with a heavy tarp or pool cover to maintain it when you're not in it.

Ok, I'm just trying to be helpful, because I only found out a few years ago that one could do this... have you tried turning up the thermostat on your water heater?

Oh, and I second boiling water on the stove if you need to boost the temp when you are out of hot water.

I was in the tub for 3? hours and we never added hot water. You're working hard and I think most women don't get too cold.

There should be a dial on your hot water heater to vary the temperature. Ours is a red dial on the outside of the tank. We were told to turn ours all the way to HOT shortly before my due date. This allows the water in the tank to be hotter and mix with the cold water and allow for the tub to be filled quicker. Of course, warn everyone else in the house before doing it so that they won't be burned by the suddenly hotter water. We were able to fill our tub with one tank, but we do have a 100 gallon water tank.

Ditto this. I was in the tub for two DAYS and only had to add hot water once. (We rented an Aquadoula that didn't have a working heater anymore.)

The AquaDoula was HUGE and deep - but it took our fairly large hot water tank a long time to fill it - I think we had to fill it halfway, wait an hour or so, then fill it the rest of the way. I actually felt a little lost in there, it was so big.

We had a tiny hot water tank for our homebirth that would always run out quickly. We cranked up the temperature of the WH when the pool arrived at our house. It was enough to fill up the pool.

The heaters in the Aqua doula do not heat the water. They just maintain the heat of the water that you put in there. La Bassine actually keeps the temperature of the water hotter longer than the Aquadoula because the sides are better insulated. We had actually filled up our La Bassine the night before the birth and put a lid on it. About 8 hours later when I was actually in labor it was still quite warm. We just topped it off with two small teakettles full and it was fine..
