Dip in temp but no positive OPK

I'm new to temping and OPK...
I had a significant dip in my temp but no positive OPK that day or the day after. What could that mean? Could my OPK not be working? If theres a significant dip in temp, does that mean I am ovulating that day? The next?

I got sick the day after the dip in temp so not sure how accurate my BBT is after that dip.

no, it doesnt mean you are o'ing. some women see a dip pre-o, but i never have. i have dips during the follicular phase, but not in relation to being about to o, just randomly. my pre-o temps go from like 97.2-97.9 and they can go up down or sideways! sometimes it just means my dh stole the covers!

A dip doesnt mean anything, though some women get a dip at ovulation (and subsequently at implantation or just before AF) its not a surefire sign of anything.

That said, it is possible to miss a surge with OPKs... so you could see your temp raise without a positive... but its not likely if you are used to using them and know what time of day is best for you to temp.

It isn't the temp dip you look for but rather the temp raise after the fact. i have lots of pre-O dips but none that necessarily coincide with O. And OPKs could miss O like Mae said. Give yourself a chance to see what kind of pattern your chart provides. You'll figure it out (or be one of the lucky few who don't get a chance to figure it out before getting their BFP off the first try!)
good luck!

Unfortunately, right after that dip in temp, I got sick so my temps have been unreliable. So I don't really know if I've had a steady rise in temps after the dip.

Last month, I did have a significant dip in my temp (only once in the cycle), then a significant rise 2 days later. I looked this pattern up in "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and it said it's rare, but some women actually do have a significant dip in temp right before O and then a rise afterward, so it seems to me that it is a possibility that I'm dipping right before Oing.
