New to Moby- hard on my back- is this normal?

I have a one month old and I am just tryign out the Moby for the 2nd time. the baby is very happy in there right now in the cradle hold, he is asleep. but I find that it is hard on my back. Is this how it is supposed to feel or might I have it set up wrong?
HOw do people carry their babies all the time without it hurting their back?
I have always read about wearing abbies and thought it would be easy! But I am finding it hard.
Any suggestions to help? or better carriers to recommend?

Th moby is a great carrier, but there is a learning curve so be patient with yourself.

Neither dd or I liked cradle carries so I can't give specific advice there. We preferred the tummy to tummy or hug hold. But in general, spread the wrap wider over your back and shoulders. Make sure the baby is at or above your belly button. And make sure you're wrapping tight enough to keep the baby sung to your chest. If you post a picture of you wearing maybe you can get more specific help.

Also with any carry but particularly in cradle carries make sure the baby's airway is clear and the chin is not pressed to the chest and that there is no fabric covering the baby's face.

Happy carrying!

I find in general that back pain often means the carrier is too loose and the baby is hanging too low. I found the Moby to be more comfortable on my back than being pregnant until DD was about 18lbs or so. If it's bothering your shoulders, I'd be sure to spread the fabric out on your shoulders. I usually kept the Moby wrapped tight enough that DD's head was on my collar bone. If it fell below shoulder level I'd tighten the wrap.
