Help! Sliver in big toe!! *Update #6*

Help! Ds (8, nearly 9) has a pretty big sliver that's causing him pain in his big toe.

How do we get it out? It's too deep for us to pull it out with a tweezers. I could, if he would stay still long enough, get it out with a needle. But he's got extremely sensitive feet....do we need to take him to the doctor? I don't know what's more traumatic....

You can get that Prid stuff, it is a drawing salve. It works well

Prid drawing salve? I'll confess I've never heard of it. What does it do?

Activated charcoal and bentonite clay both have the same drawing properties, and at least one of those should be at your local health food store or pharmacy.

thanks all - I had him take a bath tonight and was able to get it with a tweezers with no pain. I think it had worked its own way out.

Glad you got it out OK. Just for future reference I think you can use banana skin to draw things out as well. Also, they do grow out in the end. I had a splinter in my hand that I just couldn't get out, even with a needle, and it ended up just growing out and popping out by itself one day. Just keep an eye out for infection.

It looks like that.

I have used it before and it worked, I usually use the tweezers but dd was in a "YOU'RE KILLING ME!!!! AAAHHH!!!!" phase so I bought some.
