DH and I are moving to San Antonio next year. We're planning on buying land and having a house built. But we don't know how to go about it! We'd love to have an Earthship, but that's way out of our price range. We're looking for something unique (no McMansions thank you!). How do I even go about finding plans/a builder/etc?
Another random question. We've never bought a house before, so this is all new to us. I'll be using the VA home loan program, so I'd need to get the home loan and the building loan all rolled into one. Is that even possible? Or would I need to get a traditional mortgage to buy the land and the VA loan to build the house?
