Question about OPK and ovulation

Would an OPK be positive or negative at the time the egg is actually bursting out of the ovary? I am having ovulation pains and think I may be ovulating. I think I have fertile cervival mucous but not sure (stretchy but white, not clear). I took an OPK and it was negative. But would it be positive during the hormone surge leading upto the actual ovulation and then negative during the actual event? Or should it still be positive? I didn't take any tests prior to today bc we are not actually supposed to try this month since I just got my iud out - supposed to wait until after my next period. But since I am feeling what I think is ovulation, I am super curious! Especially since this will likely be my first time ovulating since going off of domperidone. Thanks!

You can get ovulation pain a few days before ovulation, I always thought mine signalled ovulation happening but after I started charting I found it was always 2 days before ovulation happened.

Ideally, with the pain out of the equation, you would get pos opk after reck starts, opk goes neg, ewcm clears up THEN ovulation happens... But every woman is different and for many women every cycle can be different. I would trust if you have ewcm you are probably still fertile though.

Also having an iud removed can cause cramping similar to o pains AND (especially if Mirena) can mess up your cycle some. This is going to have to be a wait and see thing.
