My DD is 6 weeks old. I have a Sleepy Wrap (stretchy, like Moby), which she will go in sometimes, but often, she gets very upset by being constrained. It's frustrating to get the Sleepy wrap all tied on me, only to have her scream when i try to put her in it! So, I'm looking to try a pouch sling, like Hotslings, since it will require much less prep time. My question is about sizing. I actually have a no-name pouch sling that my SIL used years ago that is made of a stiff cotton, with no padding. The length of the shorter long side is 23." My shoulder-to-hip measurement is 24". Based on that, this sling measures too small, and it seems too tight for her when I try to put her in it. However, based on the Hotslings sizing chart, all of my other measurements line up with a size 2/23" sling. Obviously, it doesn't matter if it doesn't fit, but what I wonder is whether the tightness of this sling is due to the stiff fabric, and if a fabric that stretches a little (like the Hotslings) will mean a size 2/23" sling would be appropriate.

ETA: Correction... looks like my shoulder-to-hip measurement IS 23". Soooo... will a stretchy fabric make that much of a difference?

I'm sure I just need to order more than one size and return one of them (but I'm lucky if I shower, never mind getting to the post office!) but if anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
