If I was NOT sensitized last pregnancy (and DS was -) than I should be fine this time around, right?

I am RH-. My firstborn was +, and I had the Rhogam shot after that was verified (not sueing pregnancy though). With my second pregnancy they tested me for sensitization and I was not sensitized. DS was - and therefore I didn't need the Rhogam. Now I am pregnant with a third, and is it necessary to test for this again? Thanks!

From what I understand, you could become sensitized during this pregnancy if the baby is +. The testing is really up to you and how you wish to deal with the issue. I had the test done for peace of mind and will get the shot after birth if baby is +.

Similar situation here, and my doc said it was fine to skip the shot at 28w, but she did encourage me to get checked to make sure I hadn't been sensitized. I had bloodwork at around 30w, and all was fine. They'll test LO at birth via cord blood, and if he's +, then I'll get the shot.

But if the current baby sensitizes you than it is only harmful for the next baby right? This is our last, so if that is the case I am not worried.

Most likely. It takes a while for sensitization to take effect...i guess if there was some sort of trauma early in 2nd tri, it could sensitize and cause problems for this baby...don't take my word on that though.
My doc said it's good to know and get the shot if need be (after the birth) in case you ever need a blood transfusion or something. I didn't probe any further, because I already planned on getting the shot if this baby is rh+.
