How to negotiate a PT schedule?

Sell it on the benefits to your employer. Your needs/wants are yours, and it is fair to include them in the conversation, but benefits to your employer are your selling points.

How will you cost them less? How will your productive time to unproductive time ratio improve? Will your on-the-job focus improve? What will be better than it is today, at full time? (Besides your time at home with your family.)

Sell it as a temporary arrangement, with a plan to review after 2 weeks and again at a month or 6 weeks.
