Does nursing when you get pregnant keep boobs from getting sore in early pg?

Hi ladies,

With my other kids, my boobs hurt a lot as soon as I missed my period. This go around, they are very slightly sore, but not much. I'm still nursing dd. Could this have anything to do with it?

I'm 5-6 weeks with all the other normal symptoms, including nausea.

Oh, I should probably add that I'm not talking about nipple tenderness, but overall sore boobs.

For me, yes. DD1 was 9 months old when I got pg with DD2, and my boobs barely hurt. This time, DD2 had been weaned for quite some time, and my boobs were SORE days before my BFP.

That's also been my experience. I remember considerable soreness while pregnant with my first, but had no soreness issues while pregnant with my second (first was still nursing).

I've had the same experience. My boobs were definately sore with my first pregnancy but now that I'm pregnant with my second and still BF I haven't had any soreness and I'm already 15 months. It's been nice.

This if my 4th pregnancy. My boobs were sore when I wasn't nursing and they've felt normal during the pregnancies when I was bfing.

I hate to be the naysayer, but i find that my boobs are WAY more sensitive during this pregnancy and i too am still breastfeeding... i thought it would get better during the second trimester, but not so much.

And I hate to be a naysayer in a different way-- but my breasts have been much less achy/ sore this pregnancy from the last and, obviously, I am not nursing through this pregnancy. It may just be that many women have less breast tenderness in subsequent pregnancies?

I'm not so sore during pregnancy, but especially not after.

When I read this post I thought question was regarding nipple soreness after the next baby was born... and I just want to add that for me, a huge plus to nursing through my second pregnancy is that I had absolutely no soreness with my new babe. The first time I was terribly sore despite correct latch (or so I was told.) Not being sore with #2 was a huge relief.

Well, I nursed during my pregnancy with DD2, and I'm still nursing now and my boobs were sore both times. I don't remember them being sore with DD1, though, so my guess is that each pregnancy is different.

Thanks all!

The way I was figuring it was this...if breast soreness is caused from the breasts getting ready for lactation and they were already lactating, then poof, you're good to go LOL.

I don't remember much breast soreness but nipple soreness- YES!- I thought I had nipple thrush!
