Dollar Tree Tests

I have some $tree tests and i thought those were among the most sensitive. They are New Choice brand. Now i'm seeing here and there that they might not be as sensitive as they claim to be. Is this true? What is your experience with them? I know that the FRER is the Holy Grail of pg tests around here, but i'm cheap!

My experience was that they did come up positive at 9dpo last time, and my beta was 46 the next day, BUT the line was so insanely faint I don't know how I saw anything on there looking back. The FRERs, on the other hand, had a nice line with afternoon pee at 9dpo. So yeah... tehy are sensitive, but I think they skimp on the dye or something.

I paid a buck for mine at dollar tree, and it was positive..8 months later I am still pregnant. I tested about a week after I missed AF

Oh, they definitely would work when you are testing a week after AF, but if you are like most of us on here and test obsessively from 6dpo on, then just beware that the $tree takes a little bit to get dark compared to something like the FRER which will give nice lines early on.

I buy dollar store tests. I try to test with them first and then if I see a faint line I test with the FRER. Or, at least that is how it is supposed to work. I just love FRER though! Dollar store test fulfill the need to squint! Hope you get your positive soon!

I've heard they aren't as sensitive as they claim. A girl on another forum told me that she got her BFP on several different brands at 11 dpo, but the dollar tree brand didn't show up until 14 dpo.

I had a bfp at 6dpo with DD on a dollar tree test.

its still sensitive. they dont claim to be 15miu (though other people claim it to be that sensitive) like the newer FRERs do...

but for their price and the fact that they really DO work, and work early, they are worth it.

Whew! Thanks. I got the faintest line on one today, but it could have been an evap line since it came up at about 5 minutes. I'm actually enjoying a nice cold beer right now, just one, just in case i get a darker line in the morning. If i see anything at all tomorrow morning, i'm headed out for an FRER.

Thanks!

If it came up at 5 minutes, IMO that is not an evap line since it's within the time limit. Evaps come up when the test dries and the pee "evaporates" hence the name :-) I think congrats might be in order, so enjoy the beer!

Well, my partner just got home with a digital test. He wants me to take it tonight, because he has to leave around midnight to get to the airport in time. His flight got changed. So i'm holding my pee as long as i can. i told him it might still be early, and that a negative might not actually be a negative and tehre is no way to tell that, but he's anxious. I'll be sure to let you knjow!

The Dollar Tree tests work great (used them last time I was ttc). Now that I'm ttc again, I can't find them at any Dollar Trees around here and had to splurge on the tests at the drug store.

You have to ask for them behind the counter at all of the stores in my town. Dollar General sells the same ones. The package is different, but the test is the same.

Mine says its 25mcg sensitive. How does that compare to the norm, and how does it translate in terms of time it takes to show a positive if there is one, anyone know?

peeonastick.com has lots of info on test comparisons.

With Dollar Tree tests, has anyone had the experience of a pink line coming up after the time limit?

At 13 DPO, I thought I had a BFN, threw the test away, but (of course) peeked at it again when I got home from work 9 hours later. It had a very obvious pink line. Today (15DPO) I took another $tree test, and there was just a shadow of a pink line, barely there- even DH saw it, so I wasn't imagining I'm not calling it a BFP yet, but I'm wondering, when I get home today, if the line will be darker, like on my previous test, and if it is, what that means. Anyone BTDT?

Almost all of the $tree tests I've taken have had some kind of line. I took one yesterday that had a definite pink line right at ten minutes, then took another one this morning and had a pink line, albeit faint, at about 15 minutes. I think you can't rely on these for the faint line. I'm not going to be convinced with one of these tests until i see a line that i don't need to squint for.

The dollar tree tests I took (that were positive) were all quite faint until well after AF was missing. If I wasn't pregnant, there was no line. If you are getting a faint line on a dollar tree my advice would be to get a FRER (worth the 7 dollars for 2 and there's a coupon on their site for 2 dollars off) and trust that.

I have to admit that the faint lines are really messing with me. I think i'm going to use all of the $tree tests i have right now and then order some different ones on Amazon or something. I'm sitting here looking at all of the tests i've taken over the last three days, and the ones from yesterday and today all have lines, but they aren't darker and none of them showed up in three minutes, but most by 10 minutes.

For me, the only test I have left in the house is a FRER- I'll take that Sunday (17DPO), assuming AF doesn't show up. I wouldn't want to wait for Amazon!

It's good to know, Nic, that you & others HAVE had good experiences with $tree tests- I can still be hopeful

I have three left, I think. I know for a fact that I ovulated before last Friday. Beyond that, I'm not sure anymore. I was still seeing EWCM on Thursday, but I really thought it was between Monday and Wednesday. I'm not feeling af coming, either, which I think I would if it had been Monday or Tuesday. I'll use the Amazon ones for next cycle. I think the $tree tests are probably better for someone more patient than i am!

I tried getting a good pic of the test, but all i have right now is my camera phone and it's not coming out right. the line actually looks darker in the pic than it does in real life.

i'm tempted to go buy a bunch of these and use different liquids to see what comes up!
