Frustrated with scheduling classes

And I'm starting to pull my hair out! I'm in a community college right now to get my associate in science (and then transfer to another college to get my degree in learning and behavior disorders). There's a program here where if you keep your gpa up (which mine is) then I can take classes at the college I plan to transfer to for the same price as I pay for the community college. Pretty cool deal The 2 colleges are on the same campus so it works out well.

I have a "pathway to transfer" sheet that was given to me by the college, which basically spells out exactly what classes to take in order to transfer smoothly to the university.

I am having a really hard time fitting the classes together. I'm almost through my second semester and am signed up for 3 online summer classes (to try and make next fall and spring easier). But when it comes to fall I'm stumped. I can't seem to puzzle the classes together at times I can actually take them (I can only do Tues/Thurs classes between 8-2). I can also do one night class per semester if I have to (I did these last 2 semesters). But some classes are only offered Mon/Wed/Fri (which are days I work).

ARGH!

And then I also need to take MA 201 (which I finally found is offered at the university so I'll take it there hopefully) and MA 202 (which isn't offered at the community college or the university.... wth is it on the sheet of classes I need to take if neither offers it!?!).

I am really frustrated. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do this without quitting work and just focusing on school.

I recommend going in and sitting down with an adviser. They are usually pretty helpful with scheduling. Is your work flexible about switching your work days?

Well...I don't have any suggestions about what to do for the MWF classes, you might just be stuck..but the MA 202 they probably just it a different semester. so MA 201 in the fall and 202 in the spring.

steph i hear you. here in california because of the budget cuts our classes have been cut down drastically. the ones i need has 2 instead of 6 classes so i am in deep doodoo.

dont know how you can get around if you cant do m/w and those are the only days the classes are offered.

the only thing i can think of is change at work. can you work t/th instead of m/w to take the m/w classes? i guess you would have tried that if you could.

if you cant change your work schedule then it looks like you will have to make a hard choice. give up school or give up work. well i cant really see you giving up school when you have a plan all set up. can you afford to not work? or better still, can you take a leave of absense from work for fall semester?

are those m/w classes offered in summer. instead of 3 in summer can you take a fall m/w class t/th in summer if it is offered?

All the classes I'm taking in the summer are online classes (I can't take classes in the actual classroom during the summer due to childcare issues). One class I'm taking in the fall is online too, to try and free up my schedule a little.

I didn't think about that. Hmmm..... okay, I played around to see if MA 202 was offered this spring and it was at the university (not at the community college). So I guess I have a chance of taking MA 201 in the fall and MA 202 next spring (but I'll have to pay the university price for those since I can only take 12 hours at the university for the price I'm paying at the community college and those 12 hours are already divied out for other classes).

Ha. The adviser was less than helpful. He basically looked at his computer and said "yup, it's not offered unless you want to drive 2 hours away to another community college.... here, I lifted your hold. Good luck!".

I could change my work to Tues/Thurs instead of Mon/Wed/Fri if I had to (though my boss might be a little irked she would probably make it work). But then I have to change all my classes to Mon/Wed/Fri and I wouldn't be able to do any of the classes that are only offered Tues/Thurs

DP and I have talked about me quitting work (see my thread in TAO for more info on why). We could probably make it work, but it'll be tight. I would have to pick up more classes to get through school faster too.
