sweet lord!

This is the first time he hasn't gotten angry about the swing. I was thinking about giving it back to our neighbor until now.

He is actually happily swinging and sleeping while we make dinner!

Lucky!

Mine still gets angry in it. I keep trying, though!

I find the trick is to make sure they're really asleep before putting them in. I the swing... my kids all have napped in it.

I had one of those small space-saver swings but it turns out baby E hates it, so I hauled the big one out of storage. He loves it! In fact, he's sleeping soundly in it right now.

that was the only time i've gotten him to sleep in it. once in while he'll tolerate 10 minutes in it so i can run to the bathroom but generally it is a bust. i wonder if a larger swing would work better?

I have this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2265072 It turns so it goes front to back or side to side... we almost never use it front to back, though. It also has a recline setting or a sit-up setting. The only thing I don't like about it is that mine requires batteries. I don't know, maybe the new ones have a plug-in option. Mine's just over 4 years old.

Our LO *hated* the swing for a while and I almost got rid of it until we re-watched the DVD 'Happiest Baby on the Block' where Dr. Karp recommends three very important tips for the swing:

1. Swaddle the baby first (keep the legs free so you can buckle them in)
2. Calm them down a bit first... if you put them in upset, it won't work
3. Use the fastest setting

These have bought me about 10-20 minutes of time to use the bathroom/eat/check email.

Woah Eleanor my little girl suddenly likes it today too! I put her in and she was somewhat fussy, and became fussier, when I suddenly turned on the white noise as loud as it would go and she was out like a light for half an hour! It was SO RAD.
