I need cloth pad advice!

Thread Starter
Ok, so I ordered a diva cup and want some sort of "back up" until I get really comfortable with it! So, I need advice. Do I want the pads to have a layer of PUL or not?
And do any mamas here make/sell any cloth pads? I would rather give a WAHM business than lunapads/gladrags!
Thanks!

I think it is just what you perfer, I have both and like them both the same. The pul on mine is covered so it doesn't slip around. I also have never had a leak on the ones with fleece.

Yes there are tons of wahm's that make them, check out etsy or I think there is a wahm area here.

LOVE Homestead Emporium and Treehugger - both wahms. I even used them after DS was born.

I would recommend waterproof fleece backing instead of PUL. It will breathe better.

And as for makers, I'll add another vote for Homestead Emporium. She's a WAHM and is very helpful with answering questions in case you need suggestions or advice. Plus her pads are so pretty! I use her pantywraps for divacup backup, and I use the light wrap pads for the beginning/end when I don't use the cup. She stocks once a week.

I'd suggest getting just a couple at first to see how they work for you (the thin pads dry quickly even though I air-dry them). Then you can get more to fill out your stash.

I LOVE county cloth creations on etsy.

Personally, I don't have any with PUL. They either don't have a "Waterproof" lining, are lined with wool, or a couple with microfleece. I don't really find they leak much at all, and I just don't really trust pul, and don't want to keep the moisture too tightly into my body, it seems icky.

Hey-

I made all of mine... I put a PUL backing on about half of them.

Personally, I like the PUL backing for my heavy days so that I'm not paranoid about leaking through but the plain cloth backing is fine for lighter days.

I just got a Diva Cup, too, and I absolutely love it. Its a real revelation to the world of menstrual products. I know, for me, the plain cloth backing is fine for the tiny bit of leaking I experience... and really, I only wore a pad that first day until I was sure I wasn't going to leak and now I don't bother with a pad at all.

I suppose it really boils down the personal choice, like the gals before me have said.

I have several Go With The Flo pad customers who use a cup or have an IUD. They use the 6" or 9" Minis strictly for backup. Personally, I dislike PUL, but it is an individual preference. The fleece and wool I use do not leak at all, are very trim and very breathable. Homestead Emporium uses many of the same fabrics as Go With The Flo - the only difference would be the size and wing shape you prefer.

I use a cup and have made cloth pads for backup. I made mine with out any waterproof fabric, just terry (an old towel I cut up) and flannel. I've never even come close to soaking through a pad even when I leaked pretty big (before I got the hang of the cup).

I've even gone over night without the cup in and didn't bleed through a pad that has 3 layers of terry and 4 of flannel. That pad is really over kill. All my others are a single layer of terry and 4 of flannel.
