I just learned last night that licorice (in any of its forms) has some pretty significant effects on blood pressure, hormones, and in one study, IQ and attention disorders in children when mothers consumed large quantities while pregnant.

I'm semi-freaking out because I am 10 weeks pregnant and very early in the pregnancy had been drinking licorice root tea with some frequency (a cup a day several times a week.)

Does anyone have experience with licorice or know how much is too much? I found sites with numbers but I'm not sure how to make the translation to tea. Any advice appreciated. I'm in a new area and haven't found a doctor yet, so I'm just hoping for some insight that will help ease my mind.

Thanks!
